Right our team seems to be on track, but in my eyes there's one thing missing. According to my memory Clearys only signed for next year. Should his posision as Head Coach be secured due to not only our teams succsess but at the mature & calm way he's handled this salary cap disaster?? I think so, i think at least he deserves to be signed for 2008. There are some clubs, namely the roosters who are failing at head coach level & might steal our coach given the oppurtunity, you guys know what the roosters are like they sign till they win. Whats too stop Souths from offering 1 million dollar contract. I think we've got a special coach on our hands & i think hes future should be secured. What do you guys think??

I think wait till the end of this season and see how things pan out. If we make the 8 then yeah definitely re-sign him, if we just miss out then still re-sign him but if we don't finish strongly and are a bit more towards the bottom of the ladder then wait and see how next season goes.

I don't agree with everything done by Cleary though he is going great.
I would resign him though I can not think of a good reason not to, coachs are heavly dependant on situations.
Wayne Bennet might not go aswell with the warriors and Ivan might not make a great coach for the Bronco's.
At the moment I think we have a good coach in a sitaution that suits him.

I agree, i think most of us have questioned his team picks but you can't question the man has vision. He has a long-term plan & is implementing it succsessfully. I can see succsess the in the future & most importantly so can the players, i really think they respect this bloke.

I'd say wait until the season ends. Long contracts can be a big gamble with coaches just as they are with players - just look at Parramatta and Brian Smith, they signed him for a 5 year contract back in 2002 i think, had all sorts of problems with that.

Wheres the long contact? He's off contract at the end of next year. I just wanna give him a token off respect(one extra year) that he deserves.

I think it's great the team is performing on the field, I'm just more wrapped the team is improving in small but important areas. Such as completion rates and effective offloads.

I think all the 20 or 30 little things that make up a game plan are what he should be ultimately judged on, not the W's or L's. Same with any coach really. He comes across to me as being honest, passionate, yet very humble and focussed on the task at hand. He seems like the sort of bloke who can keep a lid on things and keep a focus on all those little things that add up to improvements and victories and potentially premierships.

Therefore, certainly I'd love to have Ivan AND John Ackland stay on. Johnny Ackland and Craig Walker should not be in anyway forgotten through all this.

Fair point, i thought you meant re-sign him for another 3 years or something from 2008, didnt read it properly. I still think it unlikely that they'll give a one year extension, they'll either do nothing or sign him up another 2 seasons or so.

Results speak for themselves and Ivan has definitely delivered ... sign him so that he continue to do the amazing things he is doing with developing talent and ensuring that the Club has a solid future.

Look to the Broncos whos Development Programme is one of the best around.

He`s already earned at least another 2 year extension, in my opinion. His progress with the Warriors in the short time he`s been head coach has been brilliant.

I probably didn't explain it right in my post. Defenitly only 1 year just to show him hes appreciated, it is only his 1st year as coach & the good point you made was you wouldn't want to sign him for too long either, it could cause complacency.

I am wary of the threat the Roosters pose for taking him back off us.

The roosters asked Fittler to be coach, he refused so they'll probably be on the hunt for a new coach next year. Put it this way, if they want Cleary they'll get him. Seriously sign Cleary before its too late. I have bad feeling Clearys internally pissed off about this cap thing, at least signing him will cheer him up.
