Politics Donald Trump

Dangerous prick this, people say he’s got no idea of the crap he spouts but the people who write it for him do. They’re doing him the biggest favour by having him in the courts to give him a platform.
Yep, the right, the far right and their backers know exactly what they're doing. America is dangerously close to full blown fascism right now - the republicans are burning books and criminalising abortion. Horrendous.

I’ve said it before Trump needs to be ignored, the same as NZ First here.

The media need to starve him of the oxygen that fuels him.

As a centre right voter, people like them taint our politics.

There is no realistic way to ignore Trump.

America will never break its obsession with him, and not just to sell copy either, he is the biggest thing to ever hit America and will eclipse their obsession with Nixon.

The reporting on his legal stuff is important, that won't go away, if the media tried to ignore that there would be an uproar from both sides.

Aside from being a full blown White Supremacist minus the hood and sheet, Trump is probably the worst human being that the Americans have ever offered unlimited power to in the history of the union.

He is worse than people like Governor Wallace, worse than Nixon by leagues, worse than the leaders of the Confederacy, and globally he ranks as the worst and most dangerous Western leader in these latter days bar Adolf Hitler, however Trump would build camps if he thought he could get away with it.

The thing that sits poised to save America and possibly the world is a few key Black Women acting in Judicial roles that might actually see him convicted of crimes that destroy his plan to be Americas first dictator.

Their legal system is so scared of rich white guys with political muscle, it is hard to know where the court stuff ends up. Still, people like Fani Willis, and Tanya Chutkan may end up preventing America becoming the dystopian dictatorship that fucks us all simply because Donald Trump orders it.

The global move towards populist politicians is a sign the normal candidates + systems no longer resonate with the people.
Democracy manifest.

An appeals court in Colorado has ruled that Donald Trump cannot appear on the state’s presidential primary ballot because his actions surrounding the 2021 attack on the Capitol render him ineligible.
“A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution,” the court wrote.

“Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.”

The ruling is on hold pending appeal until January 4.

In a historic decision Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court barred Donald Trump from running in the state’s presidential primary after determining that he had engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
The ruling marked the first time a court kept a presidential candidate off the ballot under an 1868 provision of the Constitution that prevents insurrectionists from holding office. The ruling comes as courts consider similar cases in other states.
The decision is certain to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, but it will be up to the justices to decide whether to take the case. Scholars have said only the nation’s high court can settle the issue of whether the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol constituted an insurrection and whether Trump is banned from running.
“A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution,” the decision reads. “Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.”
Three years after the end of the Civil War, the nation in 1868 adopted the 14th Amendment, granting citizenship to those born or naturalized in the United States and guaranteeing civil rights to all Americans, including those who had been enslaved. In addition, Section 3 of the amendment barred people from office if they swore an oath to the Constitution and then engaged in insurrection. The measure was meant to keep former Confederates from returning to power.
Six Republican and independent voters from Colorado invoked the provision in a lawsuit this fall meant to keep Trump off the ballot. After a week-long trial, Denver District Judge Sarah B. Wallace in November ruled that Trump had engaged in insurrection but could remain on the ballot because she determined Section 3 does not apply to those running for president.
The voters, who filed their suit with the help of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, appealed the part of the ruling that kept him on the ballot, while Trump appealed the part that concluded that he had engaged in insurrection.
In separate cases, the Minnesota Supreme Court and a Michigan appeals court previously declined to remove Trump’s name from the primary ballot in those states. Meanwhile, a Texas tax consultant has gotten no traction with a string of lawsuits he has filed on the issue.

Unfortunately the right own most of the media in the states. And social media. But yeah, agree on the rest

What does this sentence even mean?

News & entertainment media has been strongly left leaning forever hasn't it? Though I imagine whoever "owns" it doesn't give a sh!t about left and right, they play both sides for their own means (money, influence, power, all that fun stuff).

Also, screw the left/right paradigm, it's stupid and outdated anyway. It's just "everyone is evil except me" these days anyway, very boring.

If you read the sentence it's pretty straight forward. Feel free to ignore facts and information, that's up to you.

I'm not sure saying "the right" owns most media is necessarily a fact? Do big multinational corporations consider themselves left or right, or do they just follow the money, whichever way it goes that particular year?
Feel free to educate me, like I said I just assumed most media is left-leaning, which the majority pushed content in recent times would seem to suggest.

From wikipedia, "As of 2022, the largest media conglomerates in terms of revenue are Comcast, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Paramount Global." , which of these media companies would you consider "the right"?

With the decision surrounding trump in Colorado, would that mean his presidency wouldn’t be recognised there if he was to win in 2024?

No, just means he wouldn’t be able to be voted for in Colorado.
This will get overturned by the Supreme Court as will any other states that do this. The Supreme Court is very right wing leaning currently
