But, as they did in the first half, the Warriors settled down, found their tempo and put together a run of three tries, the last a length of the field effort sparked by Sio Kali and finished by Luke Hanson with two minutes to go.

In a high-scoring contest, the Bulldogs' Jersey Flegg Cup side were unable to claim victory in their trip to New Zealand, downed 40-28 against the Warriors at Navigation Home Stadium in Pukekohe.

A Cassius Tia double put the Blue and Whites in a strong position at the break, claiming a 22-6 lead after conceding the first try.

However, the home side swung the momentum in the second stanza to reclaim the lead, with a Bailey Myers in the dying stages the only contribution to the side.

Despite the loss, Tia at halfback claimed a 16-point haul with two tries and four goals in a highlight for the side.

Meanwhile, the Kaiviti Silktails had their own high-scoring defeat, unable to upset the Wests Tigers 18-34 at Churchill Park, Lautoko.

After conceding the first two tries, the Silktails clicked into gear with second rower touching down in the 22nd minute, before centre Asalusi Nagicu crossed just minutes later to level.

However, a late try to the Tigers gave the visitors an 18-12 lead at the break.

While Qoro touched down midway through the second half, a further four tries put the match out of reach for the brave Silktails, giving their opponents a sixteen-point victory.

In Round 13, the Bulldogs will travel to Churchill Park to face the Silktails in the second match between the two sides in 2025.

However, much like the other results of the weekend, the second half belonged to the opposition, with Glebe claiming a 42-18 victory with Carson T'Maalii scoring in the 75th minute.

The Bulldogs will get a well-deserved break in Round 10 of the Ron Massey Cup, before returning to the field on June 15th against Mounties in Round 11.
