Internationals Scotland

The West of Scotland Rugby League Service Area hosted a 9 a-side tournament for Under 15 and 17 teams last weekend to allow new and existing clubs the opportunity to field teams in a non-competitive event.

The event was held at Nethercraigs Sports Complex, Glasgow, home of the newly formed Victoria Knights, and played host to teams from Easterhouse Panthers, Airdrie Hawks, Ayr Knights and Victoria Knights.

Apart from the persistent torrent of rain the Rugby League on display provided a real insight into what beckons to be a very promising National Youth League.

The Scottish National Youth League will kick off on Sunday 17th May 2009 and will have eight teams competing in each age group from all over Scotland. This will be the first year Scotland Rugby League has expanded the existing Rugby League Conference to provide a Scotland wide League for young players north of the border.

This is the beginning of the end for international league teams. In a few short years Scotland will be unbeatable :D

Except by the Kiwis.

Theres a real market for rugby league in Scotland.

They are a football mad nation where evrybody is hard as nails and hates rugby union (its the posh kids game, and most sweaties are as working class as they come!)
