St Helens slumped to yet another loss on Friday to really open up the title race in the English Super League.
The Daniel Anderson-coached side had its third defeat in five rounds, beaten 20-18 by champions the Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium.
Saints led 18-12 at halftime but were kept scoreless in the second half.
The defeat followed a one-point reverse against Hull FC last week and a 16-19 loss to the Huddersfield Giants on May 6.
At the same time, the Leeds Rhinos sneaked a 19-18 win over the Salford City Reds, pushing them up to 26 points, just two behind Saints.
And Hull FC is just another two points back in third place on 24 after accounting for Harlequins 30-16. It was a club record-equalling ninth consecutive Super League win.
