The problem facing the Ukrainians is they are being worn down in the East by the Russians with severe losses, which they admit to. In turn the Russians have adjusted their tactics and now have the Ukrainians under severe pressure. There is one area where they are lauding the Ukrainians as they could get to the Russian border. Meanwhile the Russians have blown up three vital bridges behind them, sounds like a trap.

There doesn't seem to be much Russian activity in the West. This is where all the donated arms will come in through Poland. They will be very exposed to Russian air and missile attack.

This war needs to be stopped now, unfortunately Zelensky doesn't get to make the decisions. They are made in Washington and less so, London.

Stopped by who? The whole world has asked Russia to stop invading but they've gotten worse. Are you saying that the Ukraine should surrender to the country that's invading them? And that the West is preventing Zelensky from doing so?

Maybe, just maybe, the Ukraine are standing up to the bully. What else can they do, there's no guarantee that Russia would let them live either way. Putin's killed a shitload of civilians so far.

NATO should be trying to broker a ceasefire at the very least, not ramping things up.

Ukraine has historically never been an independent country, at least not consistently. The Poles, Russians and Germany have been invading and occupying it at different times.

The modern mess started with the Soviet induced famine in Ukraine, millions died. Not long after the Nazi's invaded and were welcomed as liberators by a sizeable part of the population, which was understandable. They helped the Germans hoping that would secure their homeland. This resulted in Ukrainians as concentration camp guards and SS soldiers. As in all Eastern Europe and Russia there has been anti Jewish feeling in parts of the population Ukraine is no different.

Of course the Germans had no intention of letting the Ukrainians have their own country, they even had their HQ in Lviv as a sign they did not recognise Kiev as a capital of a country that did not deserve to exist. So that resulted in different groups fighting the Germans, others the Russians, even fighting both. I believe the final resistance against the Soviets finished in the mid 1950's.

After WW2 the Ukraine area became an important military and industrial area based around Kiev as it's capital. Areas like the Donbass and Crimes were given by Moscow to administer as a regional capital. Once the Soviet Union collapsed those administered areas were with Ukraine.

In 2014 the Maidan coup, backed by the US happened. Extremist members of the Ukraine passed laws banning Russian culture and language. This entailed about 30-40% of the population, mainly Donbass and Crimea. Ukraine tried to enforce the laws and the ethnic Russians fought back bringing us up to date.

Previously I wondered why after 8 years the Russians acted now. They claim that Ukrainian shelling of Donbass civilians had increased several fold and that the Ukrainians wer about to launch an assualt into Crimrea. Is it true, who nows what the truth is about anything there,

Very nice video. Extremely dangerous being near a forward artillery position, counter battery can be automated.

The editing of the artillery piece and the HQ directing fire was a slick move. Thats how it works in an ideal world. But unlikely UKR HQ would dedicate such resources to a reserve section manning a single gun

Is it typical for a country to lose ALL it's food, power and water in the middle of an invasion? Don't the invading forces also need those three things to function? There's been plenty of reports from occupied regions where the power was out and food was scarce and I don't see any logical reason why they'd lie about it. I have to assume that you're referring to the fact that Russia hasn't gone for a scorched earth strategy on the whole of the Ukraine. I don't think the Russian people would tolerate it.

I have a bad feeling that Putin isn't the worst option available and his successor will be a military man instead of a politician. That's a lot of power to wield in aggressive hands.

Yes. You immediately target those facilities. Denying all resources is probably a borderline low level war crime, but as long as you allow refugees to flee, it's probably acceptable.

It could be that he's been forced into the decision by the noise of the military heads asking why he hasn't showed strength in the face of Ukranian defiance over the last 8 years and especially last year if Gizzy has his facts right.

Russians only respect power so as soon as the old lion shows signs of slipping, a young lion is going to fight him for the leadership. If he's as sick as is being reported, Russia needs him to appoint a successor before he's replaced with someone far worse.

However the Merkins have been fighting wars non stop, in some form, ever since Vietnam. They have a culture of experienced junior officers and NCOs.

They learned from Vietnam that putting a kid in a uniform and giving him a gun does not make a soldier.
