According to the graphics that kick was on the 1st tackle!
My mistake - it is showing the live play in the insert box and that is the Sharks 1st tackle having taken the 22 restart

Forced dropouts 5 to 1 !! If we cant get repeat sets with 12/11 men then its never going to happen.
All the other match stats make awful reading. 100 more tackles, Kick return meters one third of the sharks,,
530 less run meters....................ah stop it now..........

Regardless, perhaps setting up for a kick because they "always" do that on the last should have been over-ridden by the fact they had a 2 man overlap overlap and putting it through the hands was the best option.
Dont disagree. Hence why i say poor all round

Looking for the numbers advantage should've always been an option regardless the tackle number, but clearly the outsides as well we're in no position to take advantage even if they had spun it.

Is Shaun Johnson playing busted? We've all seen him play a lot better than that.

It must be embarrassing not being re-signed by the team then comprehensively being outplayed by the guy that replaced you.

Asi could be a Hiku type of player, not a typical half or an athletic centre but a real footballer overall.

I think we have to accept that Shaun Johnson is not a leader, he is experienced but he lacks respect from his mates and overall tactical ability.

In his role, and left alone on his own game, he is still dynamite.

The team needs an Ivan Cleary or Brent Tate type in the backs.

If Aitken was able to play centre that would be a bloody good start,

...we are still 10th...with MSS home games to come...all I worry about is risking covid by going.

Watching for a third time. Walsh actually played the role Shaun Johnson should have played. If Kennedy had not coat-hangered Walsh, I'm certain we would have scored. We then scored a minute later from a great Walsh pass. Our second score came from a brilliant Walsh run and equally as awesome pass. If it wasn't for him the score would have been nil.

I think Chanel Harris-Tavita can take the kicking duties on the last tackle. I think they could become a good combo.

What has been dynamite about his play? Was it the way he just dropped the ball like he didn't care? Or was it how he umm did nothing in attack? Maybe it was his defense as Katoa ran rings around him? I know, it's how Nico Hynes made him look like a rookie??

That's not how someone plays when they're busted up.

He's been making poor decisions with the ball all year. But last night he literally didn't need to do anything other than organise a few set plays and spread the ball to reach the overlaps. He couldn't even do that smh.

It’s not that bad , I’ve had my 7 days of iso now back to life. My wife has another 2 days left.

My experience, offers may be different.

A game that should have been won but lost with bad execution and game plan. All credit to the opposition.

Execution on the players game plan on the coaching staff, I rest my case your Honour.

Couldn’t have happened in a worse place, shark park looks like a fucking nightmare for visiting teams. That home ground advantage showed for sure, with baying and chanting for every Warrior who slipped a little high to be sent off too - and yeah there’s the only reason Ramien wasn’t marched entirely —- not an excuse on our side, but you had Johnson coming back there, to the highly player lead environment recently glazed and hardened by the addition of Fitzgibbon as coach and the result (for the moment, because it’s probably got a self destructing tendency) is a rabid confidence on their side which he wilted at.

Mount Smart can’t come soon enough

Man if Bellamy had him he wouldn't be thinking he can get away with whatever and that hes twice as big as he really is. That guy would put the fear of god into him haha.

I think everybody has a 50/50 relationship about Jazz. But hes much more contained now and 55 tackles is 55 tackles.
I liked Jazz more when he was a hot head, yeah he would give away stupid penalties but his impact on the game was greater.

Now he just seems like a robot, tackle, hit up. Theres no passion in him. I think hes better when hes treading the line like lodge, controlled aggression instead of robot like worker.

Yeah, that stuck out to me when I saw it. Looked an easy try but for some reason didn't pass. There was something weird about that passage of play.
I think the whole team was just panicking and everyone was trying too hard as individuals, when all they needed to do was come together as a team and play their gameplan. Sometimes it happens like that when the team has no confidence, you start trying too hard, you start thinking you need to do it yourself.

Thats usually when the leaders step up and bring everyone in line and say, hey stick to the game plan, trust you inside, trust your outside and do your role and we will be fine.

I dont think we had any of that.

Louim8

Look at how flat those outside men are......their setting for a kick.....dont even think numerical advantage has even entered their head, and tbh i think even if he does pass it those outside men would be in no position to receive the ball anyway by the time it reached them.......poor all round really.
Yeah Shaun Johnson is looking at the ptb and cant see to the other side of the field where the overlap is, he has a few seconds to decide what he is going to do with it and relies on calls from his outside men. If walsh or asi or anyone really had told him pass the ball, maybe we see him spread it instead.

Its not all on Shaun Johnson, but the kick that he made was shit anyway so it doesn't matter.

There was a good article years ago with Hasler and Manly about playing to parts of the field to make the opposition make decisions on how many players they should have on each side of the play the ball. Play to the middle they line up 5 and 5. Play to the sides of the posts or another 10 metres out and they need to make decisions on if they line up with 7 and 3 or 6 and 4.

Having the opposition 1 man down and later 2 men down we should of been moving the ball to have the Sharks making decisions.

Instead they were tearing our defense to shreds out wide.

Nrl.com has a video with Anthony Seibold last year talking about tactics vs 12 men, similar to this one that said something similar, but can't seem to find it anymore.

edit, here it is
