Most of the NRL elite players are around the 23-25 age bracket or younger - Cleary, Turbo, Pappy, Murray, Haas, Hynes, Grant, etc. so under 24 isn’t necessarily the issue. Experience is & we clearly lack that with some players, but geez you also want to see them developing into better players each season & it doesn’t appear to be happening enough at the Warriors. Berry looks less and less of an NRL player with every game.
I think we also have to take into account that those lads all grew up playing league from a very young age and Berry (and Vailea) has played less than 30 games of league in his life.

We've got other players like Katoa in a similar boat with a lack of games play compartively.

We're seeing decent progression in the likes of Egan and Chanel Harris-Tavita though.

Gosh we did well to win that game. We targeted their weak points. IE Rapana and Schneider and they paid off with both of them yielding multiple mistakes.
Some of our forwards played like they were tired from the last match. Other players played like they were shell shocked.
I told the story about our cricket season where we were humiliated for 29 and then limped to 120 in the next match while making sure we batted out our 50 overs. In the following match we felt we had righted the scales and had put the humiliation behind us. The feeling did return when we had to play the same team later in the season, but we responded by summoning all our efforts and defeating them in an epic match. I can remember going to be at 8pm the night before to get 11 hours sleep for the game. When you sleep more than 9 hours before a cricket match you can see the ball earlier and react quicker. It was a technique they taught us at reps.
I think the Anzac massacre is behind us now. We showed yesterday that we are an NRL standard team and that the result was just an oddity and a blow out with nothing to be read into it. Had the raiders run over us in this match then our psyche would have been in real trouble.
I thought we played amazing at times in the match to stay composed when they took leads and to come back into the match by scoring tries when we had our chances.

Going into golden point I had a good feeling we would win as we had all the momentum and a certain elite half called Shaun Johnson.

The pundits on NRL.com were split on who would win that game and it turned out to be a 50 50 tussle. Don't be fooled into thinking Caberra are a rubbish team. They have already won 2 games this season and once they realise that Rapana is past his use by date and that Schneider is rubbish, then they will make a late season push for the playoffs.
They are a good side.
I also said the Tigers were a good side after we played and beat them.
The only team I think we will have it easy against is the Dogs and they aren't a bad team either as they proved last night.
If Dragons beat Tigers we will be 11th after this round.
Last year after round 8 we were also 4 wins and 4 losses but placed 7th.

Brown actually said its harder moving from the middle to the edge. Being in the middle simplifies the game for him, or something to that effect.
Being on the edge in today's game has more nuance involving defence and attack, it means being an extra man as part of the backs sometimes and being a frontrower if need be, ensuring your side is covered when need be.
13 is all that and more when done right.
While Katoa is gaining experience, a simplified game for him is a good call imo
Sorry, you’re absolutely right that’s what he said - my dislexic self stuffed up there

I don’t blame Berry and Arthars for those first two tries, but the third one they had obviously numbered up correctly and it was simply a one on one miss from Berry. In the first 2 tries they were massively short on numbers and just had to follow in. The breakdown in the defence had happened well before the ball mad it out to the edge. I think that is why there is a reluctance to move Aitken now, because he communicates so well on that left edge and holds it together

There was an issue with Berry on D the game he got dropped, it wasnt his tackling, the reality is he didnt adjust well in the line. This game like you said, a number of times that Raiders just caught and passed it was somebody else coming out of the line early not so much Berry being slow to react, he was flanked.

I think we have to take the good with the bad with guys like Berry and Kosi, but with Montoya back and other players joining, I can see both being players in the reserves, pushing for a place in the side. Which is what you want, players pushing for the place once they are at that first grade level firstly and then pushing further.

I personally think though we need some pace on at least one wing. Ratuva needs a game, but hes not the kind of pace Im meaning. I remember in the 80s when the OBs were the glamour players, the guys with pace. ET, Daley etc. The Storm have it all over the show, if we can just coach our outies to finish and obviously to tackle, catch the bombs and make kick returns, thats all we need from them, its the spine that do the damage. But still, a real flyer on one edge would be lethal. If we signed Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad I can see Metcalf out there exploding leaving opposition edge players for dust. Day dreaming moment ;-p

All true. You got the top 4 and you got everybody else who are a whisker away from each other at the moment.

If we just swap Lodge now for any other half decent 30 minute man, who has a good head and we just address how to catch a ball (run those damn catch and pass at the ankles after doing HIIT to fatigue that SK use to run), imo we are that close to top 4 quality. Once all that juniors rubbish is cleared up, we simply need to work on the basics of force back, Line Speed and Ruck speed, along with Chanel Harris-Tavita's brilliant 40/20s etc. Dominate not just Completions, but position. Id rather have 35% of the ball and it all be in the red zone than 65% of the ball with 50% of it being from our own half lol (clearly rather have 65% and 50% be in their red zone), bit extreme, but it really is a simple game. We have the talent in Shaun Johnson and Chanel Harris-Tavita and now looks like ASI, to manage position. We just need the rest of the team to help out with possession/completion.

We are a crazy roller coaster heart pounding team - and I can never breathe until after a match but I wouldn’t have it any other way! From the ugliest wins and losses to the prettiest - our team has the BEST mana! There’s no team as exciting as the Warriors and I’m so blessed to be able to enjoy this journey with everyone!

Looking at the table and you can clearly see how valuable these shit house wins are for us.

6th equal on points. PD fucked but what's changed.

A half decent run at some point in the season and we will find ourselves in the 8 again with a possible chance to push to 6th

Could also crumble to 13th - watch this space

Brad Fittler has come out and Said Lodge should have been sin binned for that forearm on the Raiders player. I bet he would not be saying anything if it was a Raiders forearm on a Warriors player. I suggest Fittler stick to what he does best..... Being a bias Australian wanker

Probably should've been a sinbin too based on historical calls - lucky we got away with it. Like how the Raiders were lucky to get away with Wighton not being binned for the Walsh tackle.

Difference being Lodge cops a fine for his efforts, and the Raiders lose Wighton for three weeks.

I don't care if calls are shit, so long as they're consistent. 9 times outta 10 what Lodge did is a bin, just sets a shit precedent for the next incident when it happens. Doesn't matter that it didn't connect, shouldn't have been done it in the first place.

If Brownie gets Lodge to stop playing or just stop grubbing (impossible?) and he has the rest of the team catching simple passes, that PD could be wiped clean within a few games.

That is the beauty, knowing we have gifted points and wins to teams, it is all in our own hands (or not so to speak lol) to change that.

Its not like we have some huge technical problem to fix, they are really basic errors and penalties that other teams probably 85% of the time have gotten their points directly or indirectly from.

When that improvement comes that we spoke about, I beat it comes like a hammer, not subtle. Because the mistakes are literally yes/no situations, you remove them from occuring and we could potentially start monstering sides with 50pt wins.

It is dependant on how hard they train these basic mistakes out of their game. Get those drills running under extreme fatigue and catching a pass to the bread basket when not fatigued will seem a non event. Part of it is also nerves, we have newbies like Kosi dropping the ball 4 times, 3 times in scoring position, that for me is nerves, similar to any mistake. Brownie needs to make the fill ins feel like they deserve to be in the team and to just keep eyes on ball and the rest will come naturaly.

I think with Lodge, Refs are still in square up mode for the Roosters horror show they put on against us. 4 penalties and a cocked forearm. What can ya make of that really lol, lucky.

Freddy is just calling a spade a spade. I know his personality and I know he is not a one eyed aussie. IMO the best 5/8th of his era and possibly the start of that role being the modern way of some teams sharing game management.

Just wanna give you a lil shout out bro.

A lot of us can be quite down in the dumps on here but you bring next level positivity and it’s a real nice change.

Keep bringing that brother - at times this place needs it 🔥🔥🔥

The third word in your sentence is the issue with the players.

They did not start with the intensity they should have brought into this game. They did not show enough on how bad they needed this win. After the drubbing last week, that was a weak response from them.
I forgive them that...unless they do it again next week.

Thankfully a composed Asi was able to supply most of our point scoring opportunites

Reece kicked the goals and Johnson closed it out.

Egan is my player of the season so far, not many players break the Storm line in the first set - had another couple of excellent runs yesterday and his passing is pretty crisp

The makings of a proper spine

Thought Shaun Johnson was a bit better yesterday - looked to run more than previous weeks.

Had to laugh at his dissallowed try, the old boy still has it....just lol.

As for his passing skills - a lot of work to be done there which is a bit sad for a guy if his experience.
Agree on Egan. He’s had a bad run of injuries with us but you can see real improvement in his game. Think theres real leadership potential with him long term once Tohu Harris retires.

He once said a Warriors v Storm game was the best game he had ever seen.

He needs to calm down a bit with the refs, every penalty he's throwing up the 10 fingers for a binning, calling out eye gouges (wut) and playing dead if he gets a marginal hit, there's gamesmanship and then there's just annoying the refs.

I can’t believe these fools are still going on about the high shot on Lodge, it was clear contact to the head. Do you reckon they’d be carrying on if we’d given away the penalty instead of the Raiders?
Was just about to post in regards to this .

Absolute bs.
