Team Lists

Concerned about our pace.

Their backs are good.

Niukore needs to mark and smash kikau.
I think the backrows cancel each other out. It's going to be a war of attrition in the forwards. The Fox is a thief in the night. Gotta almost factor in his one try before we start. I think Te Maire Martin is one of the few halves that can defend Burton. Really impressed by Te Maire Martin's defence. Nevertheless Burton's got natural tackle-busting ability.

I was worried about Kiraz but I think Kosi can shade him for run meters and defend him. Pretty even across the Park. I'm going to say our chances will depend on Shaun Johnson's running and kick meters game. If he can step up his kicking I think we're good. He used to be a 40/20 exponent. We need that. And keep running son! We'll win if he brings that game.

Was hoping max king was gonna be out for them- looked like he picked up decent injury last week.
They would’ve been stuffed without him- he’s the only decent prop they have left.
Hopefully he’s a bit underdone.
I've moved on from hoping opposition get injuries. I back our boys against any team. (although I did hope Manu wasn't playing Round 2).

I see the All Whites just played China tonight at MSS.
12000 people there and the commentators were excited , that included a large number of Chinese expats.
Hopefully the grass is now not too short( as per soccer pitches) , favouring the likes of The Fox and his speed

I wasn’t hoping he got injured- he’s already injured- just hoping it ruled him out… 😂
Poor manu though- u nasty bastard… :cigar:

Their team and game plan revolves around their stars.

Mahoney
Burton
Kikau
Fox

Each of them is better than any player we have,
Individually and positionally you are most likely correct

Both teams should be playing with confidence
One team may overplay their hand

Our point of difference is pack mentality, cohesion and fitness

Let’s hope our team can outplay their stars

Like this team, really hope it all clicks defensively for Vailea and he has a breakout game, I believe he's a better option to have over Wiliame but he has to prove it and want it more.
In terms of speed and tackle busts he is better.

But defensive reads, and silky hands he doesn't. With Wiliame we had a sounds unit in him and Montoya. And his onside comms with Te Maire Martin also impressive.

I like the team but do worry. Head space wise. This game is a game we should win but these games typically come after one we shouldn't have won and we end up losing them.

I'm of the belief we can win it. But optimistically cautious.

Unrelated to the team list but didn’t know where else to post it! The last week or so - I have had so many compliments and “go the Warriors” yelled out at me while wearing Warriors gear out and about and haven’t had that for a few years! Always wear the Wahs gear with pride but it’s so nice feeling that buzz and electricity again!

Anyway - I love the depth we have and I love the way Webby is selecting the team and players coming in for those that are injured! I genuinely feel at ease and not stressed despite missing a few people! For once (in a long time) it really feels like everyone from owner to coach to assistant coaches to players and even to us are all ok the same page!

As long as we shut down and quiet their loud/big players and as long as we continue to turn up as a team with the mana we have over the last few weeks we are in for a nice win this week! Really wanna see a stronger start than we have last few games - that way we can start on a confident foot!

Excited for this game and excited that we have the players to make it an exciting game! UP THE WARRIORS! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Looking at the ticket website the East stand is close to sold out but there are a fair few left on the West stand. The South stand is GA so you can’t tell and it looks like they aren’t selling the north bank.

Anyone know capacity if the north bank is closed? 22k ish?

I know this feeling man - every time over the last 5 years we've played a game we SHOULD win I've always felt this, and we've lost a good portion of them!

I would be shocked - absolutely shocked I say - if we are not up for this game mentally. I really think Webster is the kind of coach to give our players a reality check and not get carried away, even the recent article about 'no one remembers the first 3 games at th end of the year' is a testament to this.

We might still lose - Doggies are looking the best they have in years - but it's not going to happen because we're complacent and are turning up for an easy win.

I'm really excited to see our mentality. If we turn up switched on and tuned in, I think that will set the tone for the rest of the year. Reset after every win/loss and start again, ready to put in for a big effort

One favourable stat for us is the bulldogs haven’t won at Mt Smart since 2011 apparently and we’ve beaten them the last 4 times we’ve met. A packed crowd would be huge for the Warriors.

It will be great to see if we can keep playing at the same level as we did last week. We’ve been very consistent by our standards and we need to maintain that throughout the season.

It’s a great opportunity to start the season well at home. Last weeks win will have made sure it’s a good crowd and the Bulldogs have some top players but the pack and bench look a bit weak. Two points here would solidify our spot in the 8 and will keep the crowds up at home.
