Vodafone Warriors head coach Matthew Elliott is keeping his line-up options open for Friday night’s 19th-round NRL clash against Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney (7.35pm kick-off local time; 9.35pm NZT).

While winger Manu Vatuvei has been named to make his return from a shin injury, Elliott has listed a seven-man interchange bench including three props Charlie Gubb, Russell Packer and Suaia Matagi.

Also included is winger Ngani Laumape, who made his eighth NRL appearance as Vatuvei’s replacement in the club’s last outing, the 13-30 loss to South Sydney in Perth on July 7.

Elliott said there was still a question over Packer and also in the same category is Gubb (groin), who became the club’s newest NRL player in Perth.

“Those two have to be completely cleared first so there’s some doubt there,” he said.

“We’re not yet in a position where we can confirm what our line-up will be against the Tigers.

“Whatever it is, this is a massive game for us. We’re coming off a bye and so are the Tigers. The last time we played after a week off against the Broncos we were a bit off our game in terms of our attack. The effort was great but we’ll need to improve in all areas at a place where it’s difficult to win.”

In four clashes against Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval, the Vodafone Warriors’ one success was in 2008 when they triumphed 28-26 the day Ruben Wiki made his 300th NRL appearance. They lost 22-24 last year.

The Vodafone Warriors fly to Sydney tomorrow and will be joined the following day by Queensland’s 18th man Jacob Lillyman after the final State of Origin match at AMZ Stadium tomorrow night.

Going into Friday night’s match, halfback Shaun Johnson has kicked his last 17 goals on end and needs only three points to bring up 100 for the season.

Second rower Feleti Mateo will make his 69th consecutive appearance since joining the club in 2011 while Johnson, Thomas Leuluai and Ben Matulino will join Mateo in maintaining a record of playing in every game so far this season.

No real surprises there, although I hate labelling games as 'must win' as I think they should all be, this a 'must win' could be season defining.
We have always been a momentum team and a solid win away from home could set us up for a few wins in a row at home next couple of weeks.

happy with that team. would like Matagi to start purely for his motor and hard running. forwards will win this much in the opening 20.

get Konnie running and benji.

not looking fwd to make the trip from the cbd to the game after work.

Surely you'd give a bench spot to Laumape over Peyroux? Does anyone have chat on the fitness of Packer and Gubb? Physical not mental
It is sounding very much like Gubb and Packer wont play and Matagi will. If anyone knows where the Warriors are doing their training run on Thursday morning in Sydney (if its public) I will head down and report back.

I am pleased we have shown loyalty to Locke, but I really feel for Laumape. I hope he slots on to the bench. Peyroux must almost need a run in the Vulcans to get some match fitness back, pretty hard to be match fit with the limited minutes he has been playing

That is a good point

Hoping Gubb retains his spot. Like what I saw against the Rabbits. Great work ethic and the extra apprenticeship he did in Australia to get his stripes will give him an edge over Matagi IMO. As always it'll probably a lottery on who gets the last 2 bench spots other then Lowrie and Lillyman.

If our 1-13 run out then we'll be off to a good start to win it...

It's a should win, must win game. If they play to their potential, they will get home.

Good team, I would like to see Packer back out there, he intimidates.
Hope we use the bench and come back with a win and ready to set Mt Smart on fire next week.

If Locke doesnt have a great game I want Fish at fullback and Lauampe on the wing, Lockes been living off his reputation for a while now. On form he wouldn't be in the team

I have no loyalty unless said player earns loyalty through good service to the club. I can't remember the last blinder Locke had. Brisbane i guess. But i want to see that sort of form against a full strength team. I've always respected Locke's heart. But with Fish in sublime form. Heart isn't enough. I want Locke to have a big game. More than anyone else.

So do I, i watched some highlight of his first few years in 1st grade the other day and wow he was awesome to watch, he really seems to have lost a lot of that spark,
