General Ref Russell Smith dumped for this weekend's round

Pommie ref Russell Smith has been left off the list of referees for this weekend's coming round of matches, due to the controversy over his performance in the Manly-Wests Tigers match.

Didn't Smith officiate in a Warrior's match earlier this year when the Warriors lost a close match and Smith made quite a few bad calls? Let's hope Smith hasn't cost the Warriors a chance at the top 8...

I'm not sure what is wrong with Russ this year. He's been well below his best. You'd think that the more games a ref officiates the better he/she would get. I've never really considered that such an experieced ref could lose form, but he really has. Maybe it's a confidence thing, maybe he's missing merry olde England... who knows?
I hope he can get back to his best though - he's reffed some top matches in his time.

He robbed us two try's against manly & we would have drew. Huge desisions that cost us big time. I remember he went crazy about the obstruction ruling. And started seeing forward passess, that guys lost the plot.
