Yeah definately worth 600k, what other half in the comp could do the things he did tonight? Maybe not the complete package yet but his good games are becoming much closer together. 200m, 2 tries , line break, try assist and 2 linebreak assists says it all really

Our three key players were 6, 7 & 9. I thought the way Friend played was fantastic. But to see Johnson rise to the Benji challenge and for me take the Kiwis 7 jersey with a commanding second half performance was probably exactly what he needed a week out from the Storm game. Best aspect was definitely our spine being effective, Mannering's pace when it mattered the most and our prop power. Question mark? My dear friend Mateo. Huge question mark; the refs again!

Warriors held at 12 metres all the first half and got their arses penalised off, I think Simon's captaining came to the fore there as he didn't let it lie and the refs actually seemed to take notice in the second half. Shame about all the other crap and I'm still to see another team have a try call overturned without any absolute proof for any other team. Worst part it's not even the first time for the Warriors. Wasn't a great display for 80 but they are continuing to win the ugly ones. Now just need to sort the differential.

3. Shauny J. - Killer game. MOM by far. It was a time capsule of a man on the way up schooling a man on the way down. Young star grows up. In a tough game away from home. Impressive.

2. Mannering - Another endless effort. Another captains knock. Really starting to own this team. The chase for a man who put in so much work beforehand was like a signature on a statement of excellence.

1. Manu - Really another mature peformance. This is a game that in the past would have Manu second guessing. But man he didn't blink. The one on one tackle was Jamie Lyon style. Really something not associated with Manu. Match winning tackle. Really it was fucking class. Classy effort.

H.M.

Fish - Put in another tough game. Made the Tigers struggle to the other side of the field as he kept making them drop the ball. After pushing passes due to the Fish tackling so hard.

Friend - Such a cunning hooker. Really if only we had him in a better quality body. Shit he's a professional. Clammed up the last 10 minutes out of dummy half. Knew exactly what he was doing.

Happy with the result. A lot of aspects left little to be desired though.

3. Shaun Johnson
2. Mannering
1. Matulino

Shaun Johnson - His game did have a few shortfalls but on balance f things he owned. We have been praying for him to step up and IMO he did. Played a true halves role tonight and had his mark on almost every try. How about his goal kicking? He's getting there.

Mannering - Good to see people see what Ive always known about our captain. The guy is a freckin machine. Good thing is though that he's starting to get vocal to the refs again and making bigger plays. What about his support play, especially outrunning Lawrence to score :) Still letting in penalties...

Matulino - its so obvious when he comes on. Our go forward seems to double. Nice pass to Shaun Johnson to put Matagi in a hole and Shaun Johnson scoring. Dont trust Gus when he compliments him. That guy is a crafty snake and has ulterior motives for everything. Just look at the enquiry he held for Thurston all those years ago.

HM

Matagi looked great out there and was making good yardage. Think he may have got a Try Assist? We may have just found someone that can play opposite Mutts.

Came back from the game a few hours ago:
1. Our first 40 was harking back to the early part of the season- we weren't competing physically, giving away stupid penalties (Lowrie) and low percentage plays. I guess that its a comfort that we played badly yet were still only behind by 8 points.
2. Konrad still has defensive frailties and has to work on it before the Storm game. Keep Peyroux on the bench as cover
3. Matagi finally got decent minutes and hes shown us that he gives us massive go forward, give him some time and I think he can be as damaging as Matulino. His running style is similar- he runs between two players to get himself in position for the offload and he runs hard and direct
4. Our kicking game has to improve- we are always kicking to players on the full so they are charging towards the 20 m on tackle 1. We can't do this for Billy next week. However Johnson's goalkicking has improved by leaps and bounds. His goalkicking basically won us the game.
5. Our ruck speed needs alot of work. There is always 3+4 players rapping Manu/Konrad/Matulino up so we can't get quick play the balls. People are now really targeting Hurrell and Vatuvei so they don't get as much metres with slow play the balls. Also on defence the Tigers were killing us with the ruck speed earlier on, glad they got too tired to do anything in the second half. I've noticed its how many teams target us nowadays. Maybe its time to think about getting Pita back to hit tired players at the end of games.
6. Shame with Glenn's peck injury but I guess Laumape gets another chance now! Not too much of a loss.
