Great post.

I don't think it is any secret that the Dems are going to get rid of the filibuster and give statehood to at least the District Of Colombia asap.

This talk of bipartisanship is just bullshit. Most of these senators get on very well but their constituents are as thick as pigshit.

The US fillibuster was brought in with honest intentions but it was Newt Gingrich and later his right wing morons who really abused it against Obama.

It is a disgraceful waste of taxpayers money to have a drop kick like Ted Cruz reading Dr Seuss in the Senate just to waste time.

This has happened in NZ too. National in particular were prone to having boring speeches just to slow down legislation.

There was a "rebel" Labour MP from Onehunga the late Trevor Rogers.

I call him a rebel because he was a genuine character who fitted no mold, especially when on the piss. A truly loveable guy.

Anyway one night in the house the Nats were using the filibuster and this boring MP, whose name I cannot remember, was droning on...and on...and on, until his time was up.

He then said, Mr. Speaker I could go on about this important matter but sadly I am out of time.

Trevor Rodgers leapt to his feet and moved more time for the member to speak. It freaked the National MP and brought the house down. I got that story from Tom Scott, himself a genuine character.

Biden is a far more acceptable face and is more competent than Trump. However, the guy is very conservative, he is pro war and interventionist. He is definitely a Wall Street and Corporation guy.

Like Harris his Vice he is pro law and order and in fact was the main architect of the crime bill that made the US the most incarcerated country in the world.

He is better than Trump, but that is one fucking low bar to be set.

Yep.

Line up! Line up! Stand in line for freakin' hours to vote for one of our Presidential Hopefuls: Shit A or Shit B.

How Biden survived the "if you ain't voting for me, you ain't black!" screw-up I have no idea. Someone should have stood up and decked him.

If I'd been American, I probably wouldn't have bothered voting and if not voting was a crime, would have ticked whatever No-Hope-Independant was on my ballot who's name I liked the most.

I predict Harris to lose the V within three years.

And the problem with America can be seen most clearly in the national anthem:

Just realised this good old website has linked Harris.

I don't see that kind of career change in Tohu's future. :)

to be perfectly clear, I was referring to Kamala. Who probably doesn't see playing second row/lock for the New Zealand Warriors in her future.

In his hilarious final speech to the Washington Press roast, Obama, who is an excellent orator, was poking the shite at everybody but I thought this quip was a classic. You were great Joe (Biden) at least you didn't shoot anybody in the face (Dick Cheney shot another Merkin in the face on a shooting trip. He was probably pissed at the time)

Being the sort to pick up of health things out of habit.....even when they are not there.....

I noticed Biden coughing yesterday.

Today he was very short of breath when speaking.

No one in the media has commented on it.

Watch this space, my guess is he is an old bugger who is under tremendous stress and that his health will go to the pack.

I know that is not news, he is old. But I do not like the way he sounded today.

He has a stammer, but I agree he is very old and he does not look that healthy right now. He has been under massive strain. Also one in 13 Merkins has Covid, not good odds is it?

However he is a delegator. He has an exceptionally talented and experienced Chief of Staff and a Vice President he seems to trust and is able to rely on. That is not to mention the Cabinet he is assembling.

Ronald Reagan was the most hands off President ever, he used to sleep through cabinet meetings and didn't have much of a grasp of detail. Jimmy Carter was such a details man he even needed to approve who used the White House swimming pool.

Between Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, two of the hardest heads in the business I think the Republicans have their hands full, and only tonight Mitch McConnell backed down under the threat of the nuclear option on the filibuster.

Compared with Trump, who was disorganised, lacked any attention span, selected dickheads for every post he had in the government and when they quit or got the sack he managed to find people even worse.

With the threat of the nuclear option in the filibuster hanging over his head McConnell is probably going to behave for the first time in years.

That doesn't bode well for the MAGA crowd, all they can do now is make noise and watch while Schumer stacks the Court benches with Democrat candidates, and sets up at least another Democrat state to balance out the electoral college gerrymander.

I watched Schumer speaking to Rachel Madow tonight. He means business.

Yeah I caught those shows.

Bidens stammer is unmissable.

He is mentally fit though. People who called him dottery were wrongly judging someone with a speech impediment.

One of my favourite Scientists has a terrible tic where he makes strange sounds mid speech, Kip Thorne...one of the smartest people in the world.

Interesting. I stutter myself and picked immediately that Matt McCarten does, for example (the pauses at the most wierdest points in sentence, etc), but haven't noticed it at all with Biden. I must pay more attention.

Given today's news, famdxtyl, buddy, can you point us to the Absolute. Strongest. Mothereffing. Antidepressents. Online???? Purdy-please, chur, brah?

Trumps tenure we had to worry about how he'd fly off the handle. He did say a lot of stupid stuff like injecting disinfectent.

Biden on the campaign trail had some nice gaffes misprouncing names or saying his wifes his daughter etc.

Saw a nice one today when he was walking past some marines where he was supposed to salute. His advisor in his air instructed "salute the marines"

What did Biden do salute. No he walked past and repeated "salute the marines"

Great story. I am sure there will be a lot more, he is a man with a lot more on his plate than any of his predecessors.

It does feed into the sleepy Joe narrative though...

I don't know what the answer is, it certainly wasn't Trump & it most certainly wont be Biden.
All western democracy's that have long established capitals have the same problem, Bureaucrats whose only ambition is to feather their own nests, they live in these vaccumus hubs full of like minded people blowing wind up each others arses, knowing they know what's better for everyone else no matter what. The Don wanted to 'drain the swamp' he'd have been better off leaving the swamp where it was and moving somewhere else. And again Trump wasn't the answer but neither are Biden or Bernie who have both become millionaires while sucking on the public tit for a combined 88years. I'm 50 FFS and Biden's spent zero of those outside in the real world. At least with an Obama or a Clinton (Bill definitely not Hillary) there was hope of things being different.

Biden was a lawyer before he ran for the senate for a grand total of four years..... I’ve had toothaches that lasted longer than that.

Biden is worth US$9 million, which is sweet fark all. That probably covers his house and some investments.

When he was Vice President his late son needed expensive cancer treatment and Joe was looking to sell his house to pay for it. Barrack Obama loaned him the money.

Bernie Sanders is only worth US$2.5 million, I have many mates worth that much, at least.

Kamala Harris and her hubby are loaded, and so are Pelosi and Schumer who is genuinely loaded.

The problem is, and it is the same here, is the elites of the political parties. At least here we have MMP which puts some constraints on. Good idea but doesn't take into account the shitfuckery of pollies.

With the US parties both are so bought out by the Corporates that they are constrained by who they put forward. It effectively means the democrats are paid to lose. They actually won this time despite their best efforts.

When dubya Bush was nominated the extreme right wing thought he was too liberal and were only satisfied when Cheney was put in as his Vice ( appropriate name). Same as the democrats, Bernie Sanders was too progressive for their donors (progressive means socialist there). So Hilary got the gig.

Last election Sanders again had big support, other progressive candidates like Yang, Williamson and Gabbard were there as well. Al performed well in debates, particularly Gabbard who ripped Kamela Harris to shreds over her record as a prosecutor. However CNN and MSNBC are in the pockets of the democratic elites, as is Fox with Republicans, and the progressive ones were deplatformed.

They desperately need a 3rd party, but the two parties and main stream media will fight that. They need to get on with it because Trump is looking at starting a 'Patriots party' I see that as being akin to Sinn Fein and the Provisional IRA. The difference being Sinn Fein's main leadership of Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness, although former IRA leaders, were intelligent and sane.

More like cold blooded, very intelligent, psychopaths. Trump is as thick as a brick.

It looks like the moderates in the GOP have decided the party, as they have known it since 1854, is dead.

Moderate senators like Rob Porter quitting, who is not that old, is a sign they can see a decade in the wilderness. Liz Cheney, being 15 years younger, is showing her parents smarts is timing her run to perfection.

They might fight over the party name, so Trump forming his own party could be a blessing in disguise.

So you have the GOP being about 45% of the voting population, with about half being for Trump.

That makes for two inconsequential parties. It is obvious that anything involved with Trump will be full of incompetent idiots, so it will die.

Corporate America backed the wrong horse, funny how corporate Germany did the same thing with Hitler.
