maybe sup42 was right.
lose tonight and beat the melbins next week?
i’ll take it!
To be quite honest I am happy with tonight.
We lost by 4 points to a top eight side.

The scoreline was low, maxing out at 16 points, which means we can still defend.

Quality NRL sides lose tight contests, it is a Hallmark of a top four type outfit, no harm done tonight.

Keep this level of effort and our season will go well in games we click and come away with high possession stats and low errors.

This really wasnt a bad loss

Cronulla played better than I expected

Ref was a biased cunt - nothing new there

A lot to work on but no need to hit the panic button

A win next week against the Storm will put us back on track

The flaws were at least glaringly obvious, not really a head scratcher.

Be interesting to see what they can do in a week, although unsure how much will change if Egan is out.

We have a tough first few weeks. The key thing will be not losing too many close games overall. There have been a few seasons over the years where too many close games have cost us a top 8 spot.

If we were great tonight there would have been a lot of hype which wouldn't of helped. If we did win it would have been how much improvement do we have in us. Better to look good in round 26 and the finals instead of round 1.

We got a bit of a lesson. This won't be easy and sides like the Sharks will hang in there and turn things around.

Made it too easy for the their defence once Egan was off, just had to watch SJ and rush his outside leading to a million kicks.

Bench rotation was criminal frankly, did Ale pull up the pregame or something? Leaves Afoa and Lussick who are just there to soak up minutes to spell the starters for a little bit (Lussick was on too long even before Egan came back and got injured) and just walker actually offering anything.

It’s nice they got Rog involved but you can’t just shovel it to him against a set d line.

Very confusing game but the start showed they can be elite.

Can someone explain what I'm missing with Tuapiki? I've watched every game he's played for the first grade side, the trials this year and last, Kiwi A, NSW Cup, and have never seen anything that remotely suggests he's anything but a depth guy.

He jumps around a lot but never actually beats his man. Too small to make metres from the back, and doesn't have a passing game.

As a positive, I echo what everyone else has said in that Egan is absolutely an elite hooker. His control over the ruck was next level. If we lose him we're screwed.

OK ladies and jellybeans….

this whole thing isn’t really the same without Bruce Bruce and his post game stats.
if anyones in contact with him in the real world tell him we need him!

and bring back @kiwiborn95 while you’re at it!

loved that kids positivity.

Wow Egan is so important to our attack, we looked so fast and crisp when he was on and very one dimensional when he came off.

Unfortunately it looks like a pretty serious injury so we will probably be without him for a month or two.

I have a feeling this will lead to us really struggling in first 7 or 8 rounds and does not bode well for out chances this year.

Also Roger did not look very dangerous at center, I don't think his skills really suit that position. Would put him at 1 next week and until CNK is back.

We have the ball players like Harris and Walker in the middle. Had too many plays late in the game where they didn't have guys with them so it ended up as one out hit ups.

A few silly plays in their 20 that wasted some good attacking sets. Either guys going themselves or not setting up for the kick.

Even Penrith and Melbourne looking messy. Only round 1.
I've seen alot of people saying RTS to 1 until CNK is back. But I think the more time Roger spends at centre, the better he'll be for it. We need to find a good bench. Very weak again when Barnett and AFB go off. Whereas the Sharks bench was great.
Alot to work on but like others have said, the first 20 shows we can be elite.
