Thomas Burgess replaces his identical twin , suspended George Burgess ..this weekend

How do we know that Thomas is really Thomas & not George...They are not branded like racehorses

Although no one seems to no for sure I think Pom actually originated as Prisoner of Mother England, when referring to Australia's original English imports.

Thomas is meant to be a lot bigger, he looked gargantuan when we played Norths..His meatloaf certainly seems to be a lot bigger.

A lot of Poms I work with haven't heard the term ( plenty have as well though ) I think it's become lost in the ages back in the mother country and is mainly used by us colonials ?
Not every slang / borderline insult is meant to be offensive by the users these days. Personally I've gotten used to the sheep shagger thing don't even find it offensive ( so have the sheep in the paddock next door )

A slang for Germans is Box heads.....a German girl I dated asked me what it meant ( I wasn't even certain ) but I said something like it's just because other folk are envious of the striking angular Germanic bone structure ( it worked I got past first base ).

She told me the Germans call the Poms Island Monkeys.....( there is no accounting for European Humor )
