General Pick Your Team To Play Manly

The Sharks game was fairly depressing, so I am keen to move on.

1 Locke
2 Hurrell
3 Peyroux
4 Nielsen
5 Vatuvei
6 Leuluai
7 Johnson
8 Packer
9 Friend
10 Rapira
11 Mannering
12 Mateo
13 Lowrie

14 Matagi
15 Lillyman
16 Matulino
17 Laumape

Laumape + Hurrell combination was exposed again, so against a team featuring Matai and Lyon I'd like to see us start with a solid defender with a bit of lanky size about him in Peyroux.

When Laumape comes on, Peyroux can spell Mateo if need be.

If Packer was good for the Vulcans, he comes back. We need his size and mongrel versus Rose and co.

Taylor's starting to head back down the road of throwing fruity passes and overplaying his hand, while also featuring heavily in the missed tackles. Perhaps he's rundown; wouldn't surprise me as a young player in a high demand role. Lowrie seems to be in good form so he returns to lock.

Matagi comes on to spell Mateo or Lowrie and generally run like a maniac.

I like playing Peyroux at centre as a defender.

With the Beast and Konrad on each wing it makes life very difficult for the opposition D line as they have to place two defenders on each wing if they hope to stop our two star tackle busters. This will create gaps in the middle of the field for TL and Shaun Johnson to carve up.

might need to carry a bench hooker or be prepared for taylor to cover.
Friend didnt look good on tv - his shoulder looked to be gone

I could have sworn it was Tate playing last night, not Neilsen. That dude just won't pass the ball.

Was that Lowrie playing in good form? Yikes. I mean, he wasn't terrible, but I actually laughed at some of his 'hit ups'. If being defensively solid is all that you need to be in good form, he is in trouble. That said, I guess I have to agree and play him back at 13. Taylor does look pretty run down.

Peyroux definitely needs more minutes. I think you got the right idea in throwing him in the centres then the back row.

Good team, I could live with that.

If coach persists with Laumape on the wing he will ruin this self esteem and set his development back years... Hurrell looks very comfortable out there and scores trys that other wingers wouldn't (it's more of a one on one setup for him while the opposition has Manus side stacked with defenders), and with the Dominator smoking the opposition on D we have a good tight D line right across the field...

Taylor looks to be losing his edge and needs a tune up. If he wants to play like a half back then he needs to practice like a half back, but I don't understand why he doesn't stick to his running game. That's where he's most lethal... Instead of standing at first receiver he needs to be hunting for holes outside Johnson.. If he starts doing that again he will realize his full potential.

If all the players can be in the right spots at the right times we will see the best footy in the league no doubt...

Laumape is gone because I really like Peyroux and there is no point for him being on the bench. I think he has been very underrated. You saw the game against the Storm he was just immense. Yesterday when he came on we actually started to get some points. He shows lots of enthusiasm and makes good choices. You could say Hurrell in the centres, but Peyroux there really solidifies the defence with Shaun Johnson and Hurrell flanking him.

Lowrie to start not because of his good game yesterday but because he should be playing say first 20 and last 20. Early defense to make sure we get off to a good start. Put on our ball players like Taylor on then hopefully we have a lead going into last twenty and then have a solid defender and "talker" back on the field.

Mutts has to start...if he makes 100+ metres off the bench then he needs to start. Same goes with Lillyman.

Shaun Johnson needs to take his marquee stick out of his arse and play better.

That's a grunty bench alright. We are lucky with Taylor being able to cover the spine, Mannering covers the back line and Shaun Johnson could move to full back if need be. So I like it. But Matangi has to be in the squad. He is too safe with the ball in hand and does real damage with his hit ups..

Sad to say it but if i was going to drop a prop it would be Rapira. However, it is a big game and like a lot of coaches, experience is very key sometimes.

I thought Rapira played well last night. Good hit ups, big tackles, no dodgy offloads. Did I miss something?

Yeah bro I did see him walking at one stage with his arm pretty much hanging limp, but he seemed to come right. With all the talk of low-ball offers and shit, there is actually a reason he can't command top dollar now.

2 Konrad (though I was tempted to go Laumape, but would prefer Laumape at centre)
3 Peyroux (no question, but can he play 80 minutes at that intensity?)
4 Neilson (but learn to pass the fucking ball!!!)
5 Manu
6 Leuluai
7 Johnson (but if his back is still sore, then rest him and risk it all and play Godinet)
8 Packer (Rapira is just too small for the starting spot)
9 Friend (I thought his shoulder looked to be a problem, as well as his nads. If his shoulder is a problem, then I guess we play Godinet)
10 Lillyman
11 Mateo
12 Mannering
13 Lowrie (not because of his form, but because Taylor looks spent)

14 Matagi
15 Matulino
16, 17 some combination or Lousi, Taylor, Godinet and Laumape.

I am concerned that Peyroux could run himself to death, so perhaps we need Laumape. Also Neilson's inability to pass is pissing me off, so we could push him to the bench mid-game.
I wonder if Taylor needs a week off, or just to start from the bench.
Godinet would be there as cover for either Johnson or Friend if they are able to start but their respective back and shoulder issues are troubling the coach.
Lousi would be a good bench player if Taylor does need a week off, and would cover Mateo as well as being an extra prop. Or if Lowrie isn't cutting it, Mannering to move to Lock and Lousi to fill in there.

Alternatively, if ME is determined to play Peyroux off the bench as impact, then I would be tempted to play Ngani at centre and Konrad on the wing. Just something to mix it up a little.

i think youre right, he always looks exhausted but then they could always sub him. peyroux seems way under utilised for a guy who plays centre and back row.
mateo or taylor dont look right lately so one of them might get rested and it wont be mateo

i like hitmans team. we really miss fish on that edge, i didnt think it would be that bad

When Laumape was given opportunities at centre he looked good. In fact I'd say he's a better centre than Konnie. Feel free to shoot me down but forums are all about opinion. I think Laumape is a much better centre than wing.
