Pick Your Team Pick Your Team 2022 Rnd 10 - Warriors vs Rabbitohs

Rather than stick the boot right into Johnson, after all he has won us some games, I would start transitioning Volkman into the halves, Shaun Johnson eventually is headed out to pasture. Put Volkman on the bench here and there and run him out there carefully.

Seasons gone. You can see the rot.

Start developing these wunderkinds and forget the top 8.

Radical I know, but we have some fancy kids, get started on next year now.
Good post. I have been harsh on Shaun Johnson. He was my fave in his prime. I wasn't trying to boot him. Just facing facts. I think what pisses me off is the manner in which he goes missing. He just doesn't give 1 gram of fuck and nods off for the rest of the game. That can't be good for team morale. But yeah sorry to everyone for bringing a low vibe.

Nah he deserves a bit of a hard time after that game.

He doesn't seem to be seeing the bigger picture in games we are not seeing the mature organizer that played for the Sharks.

And he was laughing at/with his old team a few times, you can't do that, you gotta get your head in the game.

I can see your point but… it’s always next year and with all the right ingredients what ever they are lol, I think we could really do something this year especially once we get our players back, Harris, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Curran etc.

What surprises me about Johnson is he’s always going on about how much this club and the fans, Culture, Country etc means to him. But on the field it looks like he couldn’t give a shit.

All i want to see is Chanel Harris-Tavita, Curran and Harris back. Our backline is horrendous. Aitken, although hes been awesome in the backrow. We are desperate for a solid backline.

1. Walsh
2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
3. Aitken/Arthurs/Asi
4. Pompey
5. Montoya
6. Chanel Harris-Tavita/Asi/Volkman
7. Shaun Johnson
8. Addin Fonua-Blake
9. Egan
10. Lodge
11. Katoa
12. Harris/Sironen
13. Curran/Harris

14. Tevaga
15. Afoa
16. Ben Murdoch-Masila
17. Murchie/Sironen

Backline looks soo much more settled and NRL standard with Aitken there. Having Tohu Harris back should allow that to happen. Can swap Curran and Tohu Harris around if you prefer but Curran is soo much better at lock.

Haven’t done one of these all year but I’ve got the shits so…
A bigger more experienced back line would help to shore up the defence and also with getting our sets started.
Yes there’s other issues but it solves a couple of problems.

1 Walsh
2 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
3 aitken
4 Pompey
5 Montoya
6 Asi
7 Johnson
8 Fonua-Blake
9 Egan
10 Lodge
11 Katoa
12 Ben Murdoch-Masila
13 Harris (c)

14 Tevaga
15 Afoa
16 Pene
17 Murchie
I’d run with the same side, though if Chanel Harris-Tavita‘s right to go I’d have him there in place of Asi.

50/50 call between Murchie and Sirro.

For those of you who are saying the season is gone. That's pretty funny. It's only Round 9 and 16 rounds are left to play. We are 2 points out of the 8. We are 10th.

We are much better than: Raiders, West Tigers, Titans, Bulldogs and the Knights, and maybe the Dragons. We just need to get a win or two and then get on a roll.

I know the loss on the weekend broke some of you. But it's not over by a long shot. You just need to stop being so negative.

Yes Johnson has slow right down, but he has won two games for us. We need him still.

I feel we have a good chance of making the 8, but if we don't we won't be winning no wooden spoon. We will be at least fighting for the 9th, 10th or 11th. It's way better than 14th, 15th, and 16th.

That's just my opinion though.

It's not just Shaun Johnson the whole teams worse than ordinary at times.. No matter who gets picked this week lacking in to many areas like leadership, need an 80 mins captain out there. Game plan A and B led by someone with good footy smarts. Need to do something about having too many inexperienced players on the field at the same time.
Really need a motivator and better alround coaching.
So I don't care what team we pick this week.. We used to be unpredictable and never new which team was goin to turn up.. looking at the first 9 rounds we've become predictable now..

I think you've missed the point why we're fuming.

Im personally angry for being duped into thinking Shaun Johnson came back a game manager. Im pissed at the club for picking Brown as the coach after promising us changes. Im pissed at how guys like Asi come in and play 10x better than players who've been in our system for years. How our defence can leak in trys against 11 man opposition so woefully. How we can't even get a line break against 11 men!
How were the first team in 50 something years to lose to a 12 man team after becoming only the second team to have 70 put on them 2 weeks before!!! How all of our wins have been so disgustingly bad you can't even get happy about them. watching Papalii grow into the best edge forward in the game only a year after leaving us. Not doing everything to keeping Hiku when our backs are so young and inexperienced.

I could go on for ever tbh, where we sit on the ladder is not why im pissed.

If someone is negative about the team and or a player I think it is fine. It shows we care! Supporting the Warriors is such a rollercoaster of a ride that it makes sense to vent in places like this forum when it warrants it or else we will go insane. I think it is better being negative about our side than pretending not to be. For me I think is now a case of managing my expectations better. Previously, I thought it would only take a couple of tweaks here and there (ATM center/wing) and we will be contenders. The reality is that we are still a long way off and even Shaun Johnson who to some extent was going to be the great redeemer has been found out a bit!!!!

The thing that I just can’t get my head around is how bad we generally are in almost all facets of the game.

Our wingers and centres aren’t making any meters, and have been fairly poor in defence.

Shaun Johnson’s defence these last few weeks has been pretty poor. His short game kicking and decision making has been poor

Our backrowers aren’t making any meters

Outside of our starting props, we aren’t making meters up front. Neither of our interchange props have made over 100m since the Cowboys game…

And the errors, penalties and resets. Jeeze! Where are they coming from. It baffles the mind.

There’s no simple fix. We can’t just improve our handling and everything gets sorted, because as soon as we do that we start giving away penalty and reset time after time.

We have a lot of young fullas - RW, Berry, Vailea, Katoa, Asi, even players like Pene. With so few games under the belt we’re seeing so many errors. I don’t mind errors when you’re doing things well (like Asi and RW)
but I can’t remember the last time Berry, Katoa, Vailea beat someone or did something huge for our team.

Tohu Harris, Curran, Chanel Harris-Tavita back, Montoya on one wing, Aitken in the centres and Arthur’s on the other.

Strengthens the team but still not sure how we improve from here

ha ha yea its almost like we need a coach to come and teach us the basics, over a long, sustained period of time with a consistent team and somehow follow a process rather than look for results straight away. ha ha I wonder who that guy could be, surely not a proud kiwi who actually wants to stick around or not be afraid of the hard yards. Maybe a proven ex player with great pedigree and work ethic plus someone whos done a understudy with the games best managers?

I dont know, I dont think there's anybody out there who fits that mould.
