We need to be picking based on form right?

You would have to be absolutely stupid if you’re not picking Paul Turner and Tom Ale after their performances for Redcliffe, not only in the weekend just been, but in the Redcliffe trial. Both already showing that they’re too good for QLD cup.

Kane Evans was embarrassing in the weekend. 57m in reserve grade. That’s some washed up Leivaha Pulu type shit.

We need Paul Turner’s ball playing. Our attack is stale as fuck.
Has Turner got a kicking game?

We need a Kicker more than a runner.

It comes down to how comfortable Brown feels with Nikorima. If he thinks that Nikorima can run the team around the field, I think Turner will play. If not he’ll go with O’Sullivan. I don’t think Sean O'Sullivan is a bad player but he’s got the agility of Jacob Lillyman, and could be badly exposed on defence.

I’d be leaning towards Turner, but maybe a game against a worse team would be a better opportunity for him.

There's the issue - which one is most game-ready, however you might like them to play?

This was always going to be the issue once the Warriors started the link with Redcliffe: Ultimately, the Warriors players who took the field would be the ones who the Dolphins' coach felt fell into his gameplan better, however that turned out on gameday. If Turner's had the minutes onfield, he should be first up as Harris-Tavita's replacement. This offers O'Sullivan a shot with the Dolphins and maybe next time the team selections may be reversed...

Kane Evans has to be the worst buy in history. Knew it the day it was announced

While I would love PT to get a crack. KN is in the team to take on the line. If he starts running the ball more then we are desperate for a kicking game from the other half.

It won't and shouldn't happen, but Sean O'Sullivan 7, PT 6 and KN 14 would be interesting

Evans is still getting back to match fitness as he recovers from injury. If anyone was at Mckay on the weekend they might know better but 18 tackles at 100% efficiency and 2 offloads would suggest he did some good things during that game. Lets see how he goes when hes fully fit and gets his chance (which he will) instead of writing him off based on one 40 min stint in a QLD cup game.

Fair enough but then why would anyone pick him this week over Ale who has clearly outplayed him. Sounds like from what you’ve said, Evans needs more time in Redcliffe.

He averaged close to 100 metres a game last season from only 29 average minutes. As I’ve mentioned previously, it was the highest work rate per minute of any player in the NRL that averaged more than 20 minutes a game. So I’d suggest you don’t actually know shit.

Did he though? I like Ale, he has more upside potentially. While Evans runs, and meters we're down, he only played 40 minutes in the middle where Ale played 80 minutes on an edge. It's apple's and oranges for me.

Both set up tries, Evans for Montoya, Ale for Berry. Evans 18 tackles no misses, Ale 16 tackles 4 miss tackles. Evans 3 tackle breaks in 40 minutes, Ale 4 tackles breaks in 80 minutes. Evans 2 offloads, Ale 1 offload. Evans 1 error, Ale 4 errors a penalty and a ruck infringement.

Not sure it's that clear cut. I'd give Evans the jersey over Ale based on that game. There are parts of Ale's game he still needs to work on, I'd want to see improvement there before playing him in first grade.

Raiders v Warriors: Young's positive vibes; Anxious wait for Harris-Tavita

AuthorNRL.comTimestampMon 22 Mar 2021, 03:30 PM

Canberra are in the process of re-establishing GIO Stadium as a fortress in 2021.
The Raiders accounted for the Wests Tigers in round one at the national capital and will be heavy favourites to again benefit from home comforts against the Warriors.
After upsetting the Titans to start the season, the Warriors lost a close contest with Newcastle at Gosford in round two via a late defensive lapse.

The rundown

Team news

Raiders: Second-rower Hudson Young finished the victory over Cronulla despite experiencing knee issues late in the contest. Reports are that he seemed "okay" after the game and the club hopes to confirm his status by Tuesday.
Captain Jarrod Croker is Canberra's only notable absentee at the moment and is expected to return this round or next from shoulder surgery.

Warriors: Halfback Chanel Harris-Tavita is facing an extended stint on the sideline, with the club waiting on scans they hope will rule out a broken foot.
Back-rower Bayley Sironen had his arm in a sling after the loss to Newcastle but Warriors officials said the strapping was purely precautionary.
Jack Murchie (pectoral) and Jackson Frei (knee) are a chance this week while prop Kane Evans is nearing a return after playing 41 minutes for Redcliffe in the Queensland Cup on the weekend. Coach Nathan Brown said Evans is one to four weeks away from playing NRL.

Match: Raiders v Warriors

ROUND 3 - SATURDAY 27TH MARCH
2:

Last updated: 07:28 am Tuesday 23rd March 2021

Key match-up

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad v Roger Tuivasa-Sheck: The battle of the hyphenated Kiwi fullbacks should be worth the price of admission alone.
With Roger Tuivasa-Sheck heading to rugby union next year, CNK looms as the likely contender to replace the experienced fullback in the New Zealand No.1 jersey at the World Cup at the end of this season if he can maintain the form he's displayed since moving to the Raiders a couple of years ago.

Stat attack

Addin Fonua-Blake is again one of the NRL's best players in 2021 when it comes to post-contact metres.
The former Manly prop, who made a high-profile switch to the Warriors in the off-season, has racked up a total of 152 post-contact metres in the opening two rounds, well supported by winger Ken Maumalo, who only trails him by four in this department.

Hearing CTH needing surgery and out for up to 3 months? Is this confirmed?

Great opportunity for whoever takes the spot to really step up and show what they have got.
