Because the team has less stability perhaps?

Because some of them are still in the process of maturing as people too?

Because they might not have bought in as much as the first graders?

Because they have a different coaching team?

Maybe the ISP team is struggling because they are being used purely as a feeder team for the First Grade squad, and therefore there's no real team unity as they are all competing against each other to get up to the big dance.

But once in the FG team they are all expected to be working together for victory, and are graded on how well they fit in and contribute to the team unit.

Reserve grade is selfish, and first grade is selfless.

That would be my guess.

Strikes me that the ISP Team suffer from the constant changes at first team level, and the uncertainty until last minute of who's dropping off the first team squad.
This is made more complex when the first team and ISP Team are in different countries as inevitably they have to make a call before travel unless there are exceptional circumstances. So as an example: Warriors play in Sydney on Sat, ISP at home Sat, Ist team takes 21 (or perhaps 19) incl extended bench, ISP loses extended bench top folks (as they are deemed suitable for 1st team duties if needed) as well as making up for an injuries in first and ISP Team squads.

I know everyone has to handle the same team naming issues, but not every team has to travel 2-3 days in advance with 19/21 squad every other week.
The non-playing traveling folks then also suffer through lack of game time and no chance to build up combinations at ISP level where they would have been automatic starters.

Tough life being a Warrior based in NZ. Add 40,000 km of travel and international customs/wait time/security and time changes and it all adds up to additional challenges that we are unique in having to face and overcome.

How many Km's and travel days have Roosters reserves handled this year..., or Rabbits, or Tigers and so on...

Not whinging, just stating some points that I feel are valid in understanding perceived or actual lack of cohesion in our ISP Team.

Gavet is a great starter. He gets into it hurts forwards and leaves them on the ground - not the best metres but he softens opposition's up.
Simons defensively oriented being an ex centre who moved to the back row.
Simon should play second row.

Right side of the field = ball playing
Left side of the field = power game

8.Gavet- softens opposition's
10. Paasi - Has a strong carry good metres
11. Simon - defensive rock , runs lines
12. Tohu Harris - probably our best player
13. Blair - Line speed , aggression , defensive rock , ball playing skills.

14. Tevaga - Mobile , big minutes , back up 9 , great 3rd man in
15.Pulu - covers the whole forward pack - great player great attitude - good work rate.
16. Afoa - Bench impact , great metres , leg drive insane
17. Lisone - Fast and hard hitting - bench impact , ball playing ability. Has nice agro too.

Pack is looking strong Isaiah papalii still to come back aswell.

Good points about the travel times and distances affecting team selection and the attitude in the ISP level.

I guess the differing team game locations and the effect those have are the best reason for pushing - nicely - for Warriors double headers as much as practical. Is nullifying the effects on team selection a justifiable reason for pushing for a Queensland Cup ie Intrust Super Cup team? It'd be only for 3 teams, sure, but if a second Brisbane team comes in that makes it more worthwhile.

Gelling surely has to drop off the bench, even if just for his own form and fitness.

Assuming Gavet is still out, then Sao comes up I guess.

Would also start Simon at 13 and Blair heads back to prop. I feel Blair would also benefit from the breaks he’d get playing prop, though admittedly I’m not actually sure how many minutes he has been playing whilst at lock. Will have to watch the game again.

This, I'm guessing SK will give Gelling a run in the reserves.

Mannering’s played limited minutes in the last 5 months and is coming back from a six week injury lay off, even an ultra consistent performer like Simon will take time to get his game in order.

yeah im not bagging him, just more pointing out the fact that i think pulu is way more destructive with ball in hand and that pulu should remain on the left edge. so currently simons best role is at 13 or off the bench, just my opinion
