I can't see the backline changing for Melbourne, Maumalo will stay in the side to counter the aerial threat of Vunivalu. Tonumaipea is a typical Storm cheapie role player, he won't be anywhere near the threat that Leilua was and Kata should be able to contain him. Chaise Blair is BFN really but he can pass, the key for Ayshford and Fusitua is to limit Ado Carrs time and space. The biggest danger is Ado Carr getting a line break coming out of their own end of the field which he seems to do at least once a game. Slater is the main threat, he's looking sharp.

the first half was exactly what was required. A few more points would have topped it off but on balance Canberra were struggling to maintain parity. So, there is the proof that the team know how to and can do it.
the frustrating piece is that they just needed to follow the plan in the second half and chose not to. First set after the break and we had made good ground and forced a dumb off load that wasn't required in the whole first half let alone the first set of the second half.
its clear that the players are capable of doing it. Whether they can for sustained periods remains a mystery

Gavet has worked out brilliantly since popping up to FG. Time to bring a few more up IMO and see what happens.

Mutts should be very close to being cleared by the medical team for this round, also assuming Bodene is cleared by the match review committee.
Roache is a much better player than what he showed against the Raiders and is the next best hooker at the club, if Kearney opts for a four forward interchange bench then Toafofoa Sipley should provide 20 minutes of effective impact, we all know how big he is and how hard he runs.
Vete comes back, he's been working on a few changes in ISP, running front on into contact has seen him become more of a threat, particularly close to the line where he's scored 2 tries in his last two games, still has the odd dumb error but your gonna get that with Gubb/Lisone anyhow.
The way I see it there's plenty of go forward in that rotation either way, there's still Fusitua, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Kata to provide us carries out of yardage which allows CNK to make his debut on the left wing finally giving us speed and skill out wide on both flanks.
Bunty's there for Lisone, in my view he's no less effective with his carries but his defense is streets ahead of Lisone's and he covers the back row.
Kata's still there because there's no-one better and he had a pretty solid game against the Eels but if he escorts another opposition player to the try line then he deserves to be dropped.
In saying all that I can only see Kearney making one solitary change, Matulino for Sao if he's cleared, which is harsh given how consistently good some of these other blokes have been going in ISP.

Quite like this team - although don't think Thompson will be there so would have Afoa start and lisone from the bench - not a huge fan of Lisone but thought he went alright v the Raiders when he ran straight!
Maumalo against either one of those storm wingers could get ugly, when he turns to chase them be like the Titanic turning against a super yacht!

Just heard that Bodene can escape suspension if he takes the early guilty plea. Hopefully Benny Mutts will be back firing but who knows aye.
I understand no one wants Tui In first grade. He has been terrible.
Kata hasn't been much better. Big Ken is doing ok. For a secondrower.
Ayshford is dependable. But none have set the world on fire.
Lolo needs to pull his finger out instead of sulking. He has more talent than Kata/Maumalo/Ayshford combined.
We have these big powerful plodders in our backline to make up for the lack of size & go forward in our forwards.
Although Nsw Cup & First grade is miles apart in intensity & skill. Our Nsw cup side ia showing our first grade how it's down. Big, Mean, Menacing forward pack. Which allows our ok backs to do their thing.
So I'd pretty much replace the top side pack with the nsw pack.

Our best leapers are Fusitua & Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Hence why i would reposition Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and put CNK (Who is safe) at Fb.
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is one of our best finishes alongside Fusitua.
If the new forward pack does the job our first graders were suppose to be doing. Then it allows our spine to be more creative. They have more time. That's why i would chuck Tui In at center. Hes good at getting outside his opposites with speed and footwork. If playing center he would also draw in the winger, Setting up his winger. His passing game is good also.
He doesn't have to set the world on fire. Just make sure he gives his outside men space & time. Kata Can't do that. Hes built to run. Ayshford can, But doesn't have the speed to do so.
Not saying i want this full time. Its a short term fix. But potentially, Could bring out the best out of all involved. Even the ones dropped. Pick up their act.
So personally, This is what I'd like to see next game.
