General Peter Jessup sucks

Every article he writes on League he gets something wrong.

"The team is the same as that which held the Tigers to zero last weekend bar the return of captain Steve Price who has remained in Australia after the State of Origin."

Last week he got the score wrong in the Sharks game I think it was, and I know he's been wrong with a number of other things in recent weeks that I can't recall specifically.

Plus that article he wrote about last Sundays game was crap..

"It was fortunate the Warriors gave their fans a 14-0 win over the Tigers at Mt Smart last night because there was nothing in the 80 minutes that looked even close to the sort of entertainment that would drag them back otherwise."

He cites no positives from the game, which I thought, considering the conditions, was an entertaining game and a massively improved performance.

Soooo yeah he sucks. Let's start a Jesbass for Jessup petition.

Why are Jessups opinion pieces passed off as news articles in the Herald?

Chris Rattue's work has been very good lately and he's a rugby hack from way back.

I care? I look forward to reading the post game article becuase I want to see what the Anti-League/Warriors-by-default journalists say about the performance. So i guess I shouldn't have been surprised by last weeks article.

The lack of accuracy in his facts tells me he doesn't really give a sh*t, I would much rather a League specialist writing the articles.

And i would assume that if it's in the paper it should be right.. At least the facts.

I think Jessup is a union hack as well.

That would explain it then, he's been planted at the paper by union to stop a real journalist reporting on league and to shoot the sport down whenever it gets a foot up over union.

Rattue was glowing with praise when the season started but while the team has struggled he hasn't put the boot in like Jessup and he doesn't pretend to be a league expert either. Jessup comments week in and week out on how Cleary should coach the team when he's probably never played the game himself.

Piss off Jessup.

He referenced a maul in an article once a few years ago, so I always assumed him to have a rugby union background, but after talking to one of his peers this year, I've discovered that he used to play league in lower grades in Aussie, so go figure.

As for a petition, you're not the first to suggest it, incredibly: https://forum.nzwarriorsonline.com/showthread.php?t=12441

He is terrible, when the Warriors lose he will absolutely shred them and when we win it is either because the opposition didn't turn up or the law of averages meant we would eventually win and are still crap anyway.

I actually far prefer reading Graham Lowe who does identify some positives every now and again.

Rattue's a RL 'hack' from way back. He is old school i.e. - best sporting memories being weekends spent at Carlaw Park and Kiwi victories.

I think that Jessup is a former RL player and junior coach. I don't mind his stories but as previously stated he does get facts wrong.

It is good to get a balance rather than the usual Warriors 'cheerleading' stories

the USUAL warriors cheerleading stories? What stories are these? The ones from the start of the season?

Jessup and Rattue writing about how well the Warriors were going to do this season felt more to me like an attempt to be the first aboard the bandwagon. So if the Warriors did succeed they can say they called it, and if the Warriors failed then they could write about how they let us down again despite big expectations.

Rattue has been very quiet on the Warriors, but I know he's just holding his load until it's more of a certainty that they've "failed"..

Was it Graham Lowe that said half way through last year that he'd quit his column if the Warriors made the top 8?

On Lowe ..I don't mind his column.. but I don't like the way he sometimes uses half his column to crap on about some player he used to coach in England 20 years ago that has some loose similarity to someone in the Warriors squad.

I think he's referring to the official media releases that come from the club.

i cant believe that people are so thin skinned that they would get so upset about an article to write a thread on it!!! they are journalists, their job is to create interest and hype up things or get people to think from a different perspective, they dont give a **** whether you agree or not. their job is to sell papers.

id much rather have this anyday than 'positive' stories about the warriors week in week out. that is one of the reasons why i visit this forum, we all express our concerns when we lose, and all celebrate and go ecstatic when we win. id much rather a person who says it like it is then a bandwagoner who just agrees with you all the time.

Harden up bud. If you want to be a real League fan (as opposed to a team
cheer leader) then you take the knocks and get straight up again.:thumb:
