I just can't fathom how the roosters are legally under the cap....or souths. They might have a couple of 'cheapies' but they have a star studded line up that just oozes $000,000's.

The cap is 5.15 mill for the top 25 players. Maloney and SBW have already sliced at least a million of that before you even start. So 4 mill for 23 players. On my calculation that's 170,000 per player. JWH, Mini, SKD, and Jennings ....another 2 mill? So let's say that's now 2 mill for the remainder 19 players..that's now $100,000 per player that got a GF last year. Pigs can fly. Someone is getting something unofficial or I'll eat my hat.

You would have to assume that guys like Cordner and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck are on heavily back ended contracts if they are actually legally under the cap. I wouldn't put it past Politis for a second to be handing players brown paper bags.

i wouldnt be surprised if SBW isnt included in the roosters cap. the NRL was desperate to keep him and it seemed practically guaranteed he was going back to rugby.. something happened in those weeks around the grand final.

i dont know if the nrl gave them money but i think they probably said, 'do whatever you need to do to keep him and we will make sure its covered in the rules'.

when the likes of Gould who manages another club are saying 'we need to do whatever we can to keep these players', it wouldnt surprise me at all if a special arrangement was made behind the scenes.
