I wonder if it's more about stopping them playing for us rather than them playing for QLD or NSW. Where does that leave Papali if say he plays one game only for QLD and is never picked again.If you were picking a QLD team today would he be in there top 20 ?

This is fucking ridiculous. It is so disappointing that players take money over pride. I respect Benji more and more as kiwi's pledge to Australia. Sounds petty but I hope he's never picked and doesn't play representative football.

He better make the most of playing against the Kiwis, it may be his only test jersey. Sure, he'll play for QLD and be paid but he'll never be one of the 'brothers' just another aussie eh

The only thing that makes me mad is the fact that he played for the Junior Kiwis and how he talked about how 'kiwi' he was. It's like if you're not gonna end up playing for us why make yourself available and take the spot of a loyal New Zealander.
On a side note, You know when they are presenting the teams at the start of State of Origin matches and channel 9 shows what junior club they played for? It made me laugh because it SOO 1 they had Tamou's junior club as the Levin Knights and by the next game they changed it to his Aussie junior club. Felt bad for the Levin Knights though.

It's quite a simple fix really.....all players that are registered with the NRL by way of a contract should have to deceide then & there where their allegiances lie....put a couple of questions in the contract that you have to answer...
1. Which country do you pledge your allegiance to Aust or NZ?
2. If Australia the which state are you eligable to plat for NSW or QLD?
Done deal

i blame the kiwi selectors they have their little group of 'destined to be great' players like mannering,blair,taylor,mckendry,..and they won't move em for anyone no matter how great they are playing,just wait and see when they name the kiwis team,those four players will all be in the team,proctor will miss out again...kasiano will only be picked out of fear queensland will poach him if he's not

I don't really have a problem with the decision overall, he moved to QLD when he was 6 years old, he's played all his football there. The issue I have is this letter of intent that he signed last year. What's the point in this? Contracts are easy enough to get out of, so what's the point in a non-legal document that states he's keen to play for the Kiwis? Is it so Kemp can sleep easier at night until it ultimately blows up in his face...just as it has here. Good luck to him, he's a good young backrower but not sure he's going to be a mainstay of the QLD Origin side for years to come..

who cares we do as much poaching as the aussies benji was a jnr kangaroo now he's the kiwis captain. papalii won't even make an origin side for years so by turning down the kiwis he's loosing money because he could sign a new contract worth alot more by being an international rather than being a origin hopefull
i would be really disappointed if proctor doesnt get into the squad. hes miles ahead of those players you've named. would really show our selectors are one eyed.

This is BS , they have to enforce the eligibility rules from the moment you turn out for the Junior Kangaroos or Junior Kiwis. I would of been ok for Papalii to play for OZ , but the guy turned out for the JK's the other year, and it leaves a sour taste to me.
Hope they bring in that rule about having to of played in OZ by a certain age to be eligible for that state.

in saying that even though his allegiance is with Morons/Australia he could switch in the future if he doesnt make either squads since he hasnt made a debut for either of them? i could be wrong?

I find it hard to believe his family have allowed him to rep for Aus, Qld. Unless they are only thinking of his financial future, how can any Kiwi family allow their child to sell-out?
My father and Step-mother moved to Oz about 27 years ago. The 3 half brothers that moved over there were all young children but would never dream of playing anything for Australia. They are Kiwi through and through. Even my youngest half brother would not consider repping for anyone but NZ and he was born in Australia shortly after they moved, and has only spent a couple of weeks total in NZ. Being a Kiwi is more than just what country you live in or were born.

Or even easier we play a test against an Island nation each year and fucken blood these players in earlier than what we are doing instead of waiting for tests against Australia and GB. It will help smaller natons and ourselves instead of complaining later on.

Better than who? Mannering, Sika Manu, Pritchard, Eastwood, Tamalolo or Blair. He is an okay player but not international standard.

If it wasnt for the letter of intent or previously representing Junior Kiwis i wouldnt really have a problem with it. He spent the majority of his life over there being bought up under Aussie systems and probably with S.O.O and Kangaroo asperations. It could be argued that NZ did the dirty on him first chasing him for JKs after he previously played for Queensland u/18s? And tbh if anyone had a right to feel aggreived it should be his country of heritage - Tonga (i think).
