NSW have ushered in a new era under first-year coach Brad Fittler by radically redesigning the Blues jumper.

In a major departure from the traditional all-sky blue strip, the 2018 jumper features two dark blue Vees – or chevrons - on a light blue background.

The jersey was designed by the Blues’ new gear apparel sponsor Canterbury.

Brydens Lawyers are the new front-of-jersey sponsor, replacing VB.

The jersey was officially launched on Wednesday night, with leading NSW players Dave Klemmer, Jake Trbojevic, Josh Jackson and skipper Boyd Cordner modelling the new look in publicity shots.

“(Canterbury used) cutting-edge technology to enhance the playing strip while incorporating the traditional “chevron” that is synonymous with rugby league,” Canterbury managing director, Jamie Meikleham, said.

“The jersey also features a silicone grip to enhance ball handling in all weather conditions and a unique “Loop 17” neckline featuring double-layer high-stretch fabrics with reinforced webbing tape.”

Fans won’t care too much for the hi-tech mumbo jumbo, but are sure to have strong opinions on the new design.

The look and design of the NSW jumper has had a few tweaks over the years but nothing like this major makeover.

Of course, Blues supporters won’t care what the jumper looks like, as long as Queensland’s stranglehold on Origin is broken.

The Morons have won 11 of the past 12 series.

Game one of next year’s series will be played on June 6 at the MCG.

Game two will be held at ANZ Stadium on June 24 – the first time Origin has been played on a stand-alone weekend.

Game three is set down for Suncorp Stadium on July 11.
