Recruitment NRL Rumoured Player Movements, Re-signings and Rumour Mill 2023-2024

He’ll reject the Dolphins $1.5 million and the NRL will let him sign with the Roosters for the minimum salary.
Would have to think there’s a possibility of the eels considering he’s exactly the description of why they would consider shifting Gutherson by mentioning an outside back that can play fullback. Gutherson is on about $850k too so it might not be plausible but if they’re after an X factor player it’s going to cost them either way. Should keep an eye on their props if they show interest.

I don't think he's a big needle mover, for the type of team we have at the moment.

Centre - no way we're paying that much when we have a few up and comers with big raps, who will likely be ready in 2025, on minimal money too.

Halves - he's more of a running 5/8 and while he would be an upgrade on Te Maire Martin, we would probably have to pay him close to a mill more than what Te Maire Martin is getting and no way would he deliver a mills worth over what Te Maire Martin does.

It's a no from me, unless he decides to take unders to be part of the Warriors maiden premiership which will be happening in the next 4 years

He’s a needle mover at 10 clubs though apparently. As the last post alluded, he could force other players out of their clubs. Worth keeping an eye on. I think we were keeping money for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to return but recent developments sound like that’s unlikely, and I’m comfortable with that after seeing how Tuaupiki handled his debut. Hopefully he stays on but I think the money we’ve got needs to strengthen our front row.

Yeah at 850k I think he would be worth a look, but we know we aren't getting him anywhere near that lol.

You never know, if he wants to win a title before he retires... 3 years here might do it.

Raiders? Nope.

Can see that’s the reason for the shift, would imagine he sees potential of that at eels or dolphins. Apparently always wanted to retire to the Gold Coast where his wife’s family is from so I think dolphins is likely if he leaves the raiders. The titans have probably shown interest but that would go away from the premiership aspirations.

Great player but at 30 it is risky paying $1.3m at least, for four years. Good luck at the Dolphins.

He's worth no where near $1.1m IMO, let alone that sort of money. Even $1m is a stretch for the guy. He's not a NSW half, if he was he might get that money. He's a NSW centre. Or a big bodied 6 who needs to be with a controlling halfback.

He won't be coming to the Warriors thankfully, we would have been mentioned because we have cash. Comes across as a dickhead, but I dunno maybe he's toned it down from a few years ago when he 100% was.

Hynes and Shaun Johnson look the best bang for buck for me.

Shaun Johnson on the same as Clune has to genuinely be one of the best contracts in the league. Even Flanagan is on 150k more.
Would perhaps take a bit of a pay bump to retain him but seems unlikely to want to leave NZ either. I think while Shaun Johnson is delivering he needs to be retained as he’s the identity of the Warriors but also wouldn’t be unhappy to go all in for Hynes either.

How can the Eels pay Moses $1.2m; Brown $1m
Gutherson $770k and now have $1.1m+ for Wighton?

$4m on 4 players? Way to much superstar money!

Is there some sombrero accounting going on?

It is ridiculous money to tie up in two halfs for sustained success, though the cap has changed.

As for how they can do it - Mahoney, Papali'i, Niukore, Kaufusi, Brown, Perham, Stone with a speculator of a retirement deal for Hodgson coming in.
