Wasn't he still under contract with the Bulldogs when the Broncos signed him. And he got his release on compassionate grounds due to his missus and kids moving to Brisbane? Didn't the Bulldogs peruse a transfer fee?

I think the Broncos are paying part of his salary this year too - often happens when you release a player with 2 years to run on a 3 year deal...

You're off the mark the other bloke is right. It was reported that Barba was on close to $1m/season with t/p deals. $400k/season of that part of the salary cap The $300k was a one off transfer fee. By all accounts he's taken a 20% cut in salary to move to the Sharks which is to be expected as he hasn't shown up to play for 2 seasons.
