Saw a piece on this on FaceBook. Looks like its a Rothfield article, guess it could be discussed on NRL360 depending on how much time they have after their tributes to Bob Fulton.
I watched a video last week of Gould and V'Landys going over the high tackle changes. Gould had his usual arguments about changing one part of the game affects another which is valid. V'Landys retorted about its always been illegal to hit the head, protecting the players. I didn't sense any animisoty like he had with Gallop or David Smith.

Warriors' forward Kane Evans admits the strict new NRL rule interpretations are forcing an 'adapt or die' mentality among the playing group.
The crackdown on high contact continued across the latest round, with a spate of sin bins and penalties, as well as numerous players being put on report and subsequently charged.
Roosters' lock Victor Radley was sin binned twice during their loss to the Broncos, while eleven players have already been hit with bans from the weekend games.
"I just have to adapt to it if I want to stay in the game - the ones that don't are obviously gonna get fined or suspended," said Evans.
"I can't afford to have that, especially at the back end of my career, so [I've got] to make sure I'm not letting my team down by getting sent off."
He admitted the new rule interpretations crossed his mind during the 30-26 win over the Tigers, as he came off the interchange bench in the second half.
"Twice the boys tackled from marker [around the] legs and the person was dropping in front of me," said Evans. "Normally I would try to step in and hit him, but because of that rule change I was thinking I don't want to get a fine so I let him drop and [then] jumped on top.
"You've got to be cautious these days because I don't want to be missing games or getting fines. I've got mortgages to pay; I can't afford a A$1500 fine each week."
The initiative is particularly problematic scenario for the 1.99m Evans, the fourth tallest player in the NRL.
"It's frustrating, especially being a tall lad," said Evans. "If someone falls over and they fall into me, and their head hits my stomach or my hip, I'm going to get sent off."
Evans is supportive of the new approach but hopes the NRL will continue to monitor the rules and ensure the integrity of the game.
An off-season recruit, Evans is struggling to make his mark at the Warriors. The 29-year-old was dropped for the Eels clash in Brisbane, then only got 17 minutes against the Tigers.
"It was frustrating for me, as an individual," said Evans. "But we got the win and we got the job done."
Evans has been instructed to work on his defensive game. He's also likely to face further competition next month, with the impending return of Addin Fonua-Blake.
The marquee prop trained with the team on Tuesday, for the first time since surgery on a knee injury suffered in round four.
"He's a beast," said Fonua-Blake. "First training session back with the team and you couldn't even tell he was injured. He's next level. With his confidence and skills he just pushes all the forwards to be better, so really looking forward to that."
Fellow prop Bunty Afoa is currently negotiating a new contract and hopeful it will be finalised in a "couple of weeks".

I actually have a press photo from way back at Carlaw Park where it looks like I am being decapitated.
My concussion came from making tackles. Tackling a 100 kg player running full speed at you causes a lot of concussion. I felt every one.
I never felt concussed by ahead high tackle.
Has anybody seen any comment along those lines?

In yesterday’s review Annersley put up some stats and they showed that 70% of both HIAs & Concussions so far in 2021 have been the defender/tackler not the ball carrier

Two Origins. A pretty heavy price.
I think the NRL is going to need to increase the squad sizes. These are going to accumulate pretty quick, I hope the bulk of the squads are left to play finals.
This round sees 30 players serving suspensions!! I reckon a team of these guys would be competitive in origin too.

So I guess from that stat we can say that all the penalties, on report and binnings have come from 30% of the HIAs.
As the tackling technique gets lower, will we see more tackler HIAs with hip/knee to head contact? And further to that will the ball carrier then get pinged for say swinging a hip in or the running style like Konnie had.
Interesting to see how this is managed especially in the short term. The number of binnings could have a major impact on the game (except for us scoring 2x tries with 12 last weekend)

Had a few concussions in my teens and was generally due to accidental collisions. Actually got a minor one for the first time in 15 years or so a couple of weeks back and the difference in symptoms was quite scary now that I’m a little older (late 30’s).
Ones in my teens/early 20s was able to shake off pretty quickly with no symptoms after the fact, the recent one 2 weeks in I’m still feeling the effects. Actually glad the NRL is taking a tougher stance on it as most players don’t have the ability in the moment to realise something isn’t right
