NRL Premiership 2023

A thread for all 2023 Round 1 team lists, discussions, news and views. Serves as a team list thread and game day discussion for all games through the week (besides the Warriors one of course :) )...

Interesting to see Katoa has beaten Milf to the halves position. Probably the biggest surprise of the round 1 team lists...

There had been a bit of talk about that.
Interesting aitken playing center and I note Jesse Arthur’s on the wing for the broncos- could’ve been a solid edge for us last year..
Given we started with Vailea and Berry last year in the centres and despite a year of development they can’t even make the team this year, moving Aitken out of centre must be the worst move Browny made.

Our second row stock were ok and both edges ended up being carved up with us ending as the worst defensive team.

Hindsight I guess but looking back, it was a disaster.

I hope Aitken goes well again at centre

Not sure if he would have made the starting lineup, but Rocco Berry has a foot injury at the moment which has held him back.

Pretty conservative side but hey, I guess the coach is happy so I am too. Plenty of young talent sitting in the wings and we'll get to see that talent first up in reserves.
Long season ahead and I'm looking forward to some footy and seeing how much (if any) we've improved defensively. This will define us in 2023 I'm sure. Points will come if we can defend .

Munster is a pest with the one on one strip rule. They hold up the ball carrier, peel off, then Munster either gets the strip or lies on them for 4 seconds.

Storm have been very "flat" on defence so far. Very fast out of the line (aka borderline offside every tackle).
