This article's like satire from the Betoota Advocate it's that bad, how many ways does he need to be told to get the ball and run more, have they tried explaining it with interpretative dance or puppet theatre yet. The Dragons look a good side and on paper I was surprised they were being called wooden spooners. And it shows how they have been playing. won 4 out of 5 games and beating the highly rated eels in the weekend. With the Warriors injuries and our team named for the games I cannot see us getting close, as our performances this season apart from the first game have been poor. losing to a struggling Manly side who had been beaten by plenty in their other games shows this Warriors side is going to struggle all season. We will be fighting to avoid the Wooden spoon as we have no attack and will struggle with the players we have left to choose from. Addin Fonua-Blake, Aitken both gone long term and with only one specialist hooker even though he is struggling too. Our team is just not well balanced, lacking a hooker, halfback, and now having to play wingers in the centre position. Fair enough they went hard buying forwards, yet apart from Aitken they completely ignored the backs when buying players. Still a Warrior fan but this year is already becoming a disaster

We replaced 1 of our 5 backs.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Maumalo and Fusitua are signed long term. We replaced Roger Tuivasa-Sheck now the opportunity has come up with a player that suits what we need going forward.

Hiku was given a 1 year place keeper contract.

I think they have a plan and it’s waiting until we opportunity comes up.

Hi people, long time lurker, first time poster. Way to many people panicking at the moment - need to take a chill pill. This warriors team should be aiming to make the finals this year and win at least one finals game. That to me will be a successful season. We are fighting for position 6,7 and 8 - and right now, we are in the hunt. We’ve improved since last season.

Last weeks game was ugly, but a loss taken from the jaws of defeat. Like you, Its taken me all week to get over it. But, in reality, KN holds that grubber, game over. Manly were starting to panic. We had a rough turnaround (5 days) and copped major injuries during the week which threw us off kilter. The performance looked laboured whilst Manly were desperate for something. They aimed up at us - we didn’t show the killer instinct or mongrel in us to expect to dominate them - that’s attitude and taking the opponent for granted. KN took the controlling half game from Sean O'Sullivan... which probably what stuffed our attack. Too many players tried too hard to win it alone (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck I’m looking at you) - we should have stuck to a grinding structure, had Sean O'Sullivan Control the game with his kicking game and directional play and we would have won. We played without our spine being composed and that is what cost us in the end. Our forward pack didn’t want it enough looking at our backs to take hit ups from deep - Addin Fonua-Blake was missed. But that’s history now. We move forward.

realsitically, Newcastle and Manly were points dropped, offset by winning Canberra. We should be 3 and 2.

I’m expecting a better performance this week with more rest and a kick in the arse to get attitudes back in the right place - especially in the forwards and also KN. Sean O'Sullivan needs to control the back line play, not Kodi. I’m predicting a win against the Dragons who are due for a bad game - this one is it. Win the forward battle, win the game.

This game is also a do or die game for KN - so expect him to lift. If he goes missing, Reece Walsh will come in to 6 and KN will play utility for the rest of the season - probably his ideal position anyway. Why else would we want him now?

Lets stay patient - I’m seeing good things in general. This club is definitely on the rise and at least 2 seasons and a halfback away from being in a premiership window. Right now, we need to aim for 6th - and we are in the mix. Win tomorrow and beat manly up in 2 weeks, even if the storm beat us up, we will be about where we should be.

Cant wait to stick it up Hook and the Dragons. Game on.

Looks like Perenara is close to doing a deal with the roosters.

Which works out well for the Warriors trying to nab Brandon Smith again.

Keen to try Kodi at 9, more direct role, speed up the guts and offload to support player (insert Roger Tuivasa-Sheck). Turner a chance on the wing to show his speed. I think we may need to try a pace winger now, but do not want to let both big wings go. Hayze to 5/8th, he is a waste of talent at centre.

I think we are in a good space salary cap wise, we have enough talent with about $1.3m left over, if we can sign Cheese for $700k than we still have enough to cover any position we are weak in, ie should Hayze Perham, not work out at 5/8th as his talent says he should. Then who knows, short term deal with Reynolds, damn, Chanel Harris-Tavita and Reynolds in the halves.

Will have to look at the expected return rates for Aitken etc.

We’ve definitely gone down hill a lot from our time under Tod Payten, and Ye heaps of people are writing us off already. Heaps of time to improve, hopefully.

What I think has gone down hill is our composure and defense since SK. SK's sinking was his lack of offensive playbook imo. He got our completions and defense on point, but just never implemented an effective offense, although I thought that was coming 2019, but that potentially top 4 spine was shattered by Georgie Pies demeaning way of asking for more for his money (even though the playmaker was consistently doing a top tier #6 job every week, it seems management confused that with providing a miracle individual game every week).

Strangely the loss to Manly imo was our best defensive effort this year.

I dont think anyone is panicking, we are just crap at structured offense and that is largely on the 5/8th and 9. That hasnt improved since Kodi has been at the club or since Egan has been at the club. Kodi will know what the club is doing, hed be pretty dumb if he didn't. But I think he could save himself by giving hooker a shot. Although I think the club would be mad to continue paying $650k for him.

Whilst there is no panic, if we do not turn things around immediately, we will be 2 from 7, nearly 3rd of season gone and sitting near bottom of the table. St George and Melb look like 2 and 3 in the comp to me, a win seems futile, but player and positional changes could turn that around. And after the next 2 weeks our draw softens up for most of the season imo.

We have flogged dead horses for over 26 years and Im pretty tired of it, especially when we are 2 key positions away from a top 4 team again, but those positions control both the go forward and the execution of our offense, so they have to change.

Despite a number of our star signings, our forwards are still gaining huge metres every set, I dont remember a year where I was confident we would be close to the redzone by the end of most sets no matter where it started from.

Those close losses remind me of 2017, we just do not have the roster to close out games. How we loss to manly is absurd. Our forwards are providing SOOO many redzone opportunities, but we do not have the right spine combination to Ice them. And without changes at 9 and 6, we will not get the most out of our new offensive FB.

A good to great 6 and 9, and next year with all our star players fit, I thnk we are on the cusp (like at end of 2018), of being a top 4 and legacy team. But we must not accept less than a top 4 spine to be a top 4 team. I think Brown can coach a top 4 team, hes not a great coach, but I dont think he will strangle our offense. The team will make him look good.

And look how good the Cows are going right now? Payton looked good for leas than a season when we had nothing to lose and everything to gain. But I’m glad we didn’t get him - we would have got sick of his style - he grates people. Just look how he chose to announce he turned us down...and he’s already losing the dressing room in Townsville.

We are in a much better position than them. This is a long season and I do think Nathan Brown is a much better fit for our group of players. He’s a good coach and we’re making progress.
