Apparently there was a power cut at the stadium after the game. The tigers were in their dressing room and had to listen to the warriors’ team song. In the dark
If only we were playing the Raiders..

Imagine Sticky “still knowing which dressing room he’d rather be in” - lights out and all 🤣

Thoroughly enjoyed the game if only for the pleasure of watching a young superstar in action. It's amazing how one player can engender a bit of confidence in players and fans alike

This kid has such awareness, unbelievable and more importantly, we have him.

Couple of Tig tries from botched cleanups but was impressed with our hanging in there for 20 mins with 12 and also scoring 2 tries. Mediocre opposition for sure but you can only play what's in front of you. Rooters would have been saying the same thing. ;)

That first try by Montoya was a great example to Ken of how to deal with a fullback. Loved it.

Egan's best game of the year, The Murch and Katoa will be better for the run

Once Browny has the troops back and can settle on a combination I think the defence will improve. Would still punt Morgan at year end anyway.

So anyone who chose MMT over the kiwis is dead to you right?
I did not say that.

During the MMT Kangaroos match at Eden Park Ben Murdoch-Masila was the best forward of either team on the field. He was outstanding. Has anybody seen him play like that since?

When MMT beat the Kiwis at MSS David Fusitua was outstanding. Has anybody seen him play like that since?

Just saying like.

Some good points Bruce on their performances for Tonga. Ken Maumalo's had some terrific performances for the Kiwis too and Kodi played so well during a Great Britian tour a few years back that Johnson played second fiddle to him. It seems that getting up for the emotion of an international is quite different to the week in week out grind of the NRL for not all, but a number of players.

Murdoch-Masila has scored some great trys, put in some crunching and very crucial tackles too, but I'm sure it hasn't gone unnoticed from Brown that his average 74 run metres is down on what we would hope it to be for a player that can be so damaging. It's been a while since he last played NRL so hopefully we do see him go well as the season progresses.

Players can get up for special games. Take Manly for example with Bozos passing yesterday

Seriously Bruce? Why don't you criticise every rep player who lifts for high profile games or others in the finals? Much like how you can't work flat out every day at work long term but you can short term when needed. Or have you forgotten everything since the 1960's?

It is about consistency, just look at BMMs average running metres,74 metres per game that is not international class compared to other internationals.

James Fisher-Harris does 176 per match. Reagan Campbell-Gillard does 150 per match.

Having said that I checked back to the Aussie game and he only ran 67 metres so he must have looked good doing something, but he did improve on his NRL average.

Is this why we need big Ken to make metres?

Just asking like.

Ben Murdoch-Masila isn’t a meter eating forward, he’s more the barnstorming tackle buster dangerous from close range which is what you remember from that test match against the Roos. Even his ESL stats for run meters were underwhelming.

He‘s had 6 line breaks and scored five meat pies so if you don’t expect too many meters from him he goes alright.

In comparison there is some guy called Isaiah Papali'i who averages 155 metres this year and has scored 5 tries as well. Are you Tony Iro?

That is a good question. At a guess coaching, tactics and team structure.
You just proved yourself wrong. Fowards playing in a strong team will always make more metres. World class fowards like Addin Fonua-Blake will make metres no matter what but those players are few and far between.
Stats will always tell half a story, never believe someone who just rolls out stats to prove their point

Stats don't lie.

Good point, so what to you think about Ben Murdoch-Masila>
Big threat who makes effective inroads on the edge and often leaves a defender on the ground. But there isn't a stat for that Bruce so you will actually need to watch the game next time.
Missed tackles is a prime example, Kodi and Egan don't miss that many but they get carried almost every tackle

Not to mention great physicality in defence, more than anyone else in our team. Sorry there isn't a stat for that either
