These reffing decisions are well beyond a joke now. Its to late to keep admitting mistakes the next day.

Rugby league: Warriors coach Todd Payten says he's embarrassed for the sport; hits out at NRL refereeing
View attachment 42867

Warriors interim coach Todd Payten says he is embarrassed for league after being officially told four decisions were wrong in his side's loss to the Gold Coast Titans.

Payten also told Newstalk ZB's D'Arcy Waldegrave that he gave NRL referees boss Bernard Sutton a blast over the mistakes.

The Warriors went down 12–16 after a fast start, but crucial calls including a no-try decision made by the bunker against Jack Hetherington ended up costing the New Zealand side.

There was an uproar over the interference call which rubbed out that try.

"I've had correspondence with the referees' boss and four of those decisions through the course of the game were wrong which had a huge bearing on the result," he said.

"It infuriates me, embarrasses me as a coach that we are still having this happen in our game.

"I've tried not to spend too much energy on it during the week, but addressed it with the referees' boss who got a piece of my mind.

"At the moment we're just moving forward … as hard as it is to swallow we've just go to get on with it."

The Hetherington try would have given the Warriors, with the goal, an 18–6 lead.

"I'm really confident we would have gone on with that – the effect on them and us in terms of energy and mindset," Payten said.

Payten detailed two of the other incorrect calls as an escort penalty against centre Peta Hiku, and the failure to penalise a Gold Coast marker who had tackled dummy half Wayde Egan in front of the posts.

"Big calls no doubt," said Payten, who could do with more luck as he bids to become the club's next head coach.

I usually have a slight laugh when reading all the refs are against us/nrl conspiracy against Warriors stuff on here. But maybe some of you're potentially right, not so on the nrl conspiracy side. But possibly there is a personal ref bias against our club due to the Kiwi factor. I've lived in Aus for almost 10 years and there is a lot of Aussies that dislike Kiwis, so it could very well be a swaying factor for refs.

I try not to buy into it, because if I watched our games thinking the refs were against us it wouldn't be very enjoyable. But that game on the weekend was about as one sided as you will ever see. It wasn't even against a top glamour club, it was literally bottom of the barrel Titans. That is a huge worry.

The Fus/Latrell moment changed the whole momentum of that game, they scored 3 trys after that no call. Instead of us scoring and latrell being binned. The Hetherington call was the same, instead of going up 18 nil and going on with it. The Tits worked their way back into the game.

Now in both games we clearly needed to be better, but the truth is we are just not that good of a side. So refs death riding us, just really doesn't help. I wonder if the boys have that in their head, and they think fuck these refs here we go again every time it happens.

I agree thats why i call it a bias, not a conspiracy. However when the NRL wont or dont address it, then you start to wonder what the hell is going on.

I think on the reffing issue part of the problem is how we and everyone else addresses it. take for example where we are discussing it. In the last weeks game thread. It should be being discussed in the this weeks thread and the news media should be addressing it as a current problem, not a past problem.
I know you cant tarnish every ref with the same brush, but we are now talking about 2 points that should have been the warriors, that have gone instead to another team. Not for the first time and every team gets that occasionally, but it should never be happen more than once a season. But thats not whats happening. We are starting to predict results based on whos reffing the game. That should never happen.
Its to easy to say the team should be better, but the reality is they shouldnt have to be. Honestly if the games had been reffed more evenly I would put money on the fact that SK would still be the coach as he would be ahead of this target he had to achieve.
Any ref that shows such an obvious bias should be excluded from reffing the warriors full stop.

I must commend a journo the other night, Paul Crawley... After myself giving it NRL 360 the other day when they totally ignored mentioning the Warriors horrendous video refs call, when discussing the weekends Bunker Blunders... The next night Paul Crawley did highlight that the Warriors always receive never ending bad calls week in and week out.
Well done Paul Crawley!
