You could be right, in fact that could be the case for our whole back 5. It's no secret that our side uses and relies on our back 5 for run metres and hitups far more than any other team and its obviously by design. If the backs help with go-forward, the forwards will have much more energy for defense.
It seems to be a tactic designed specifically for our team with our big backs, whether or not it'll be a grand final winning formula I'm not so sure.
Regardless, even in a forward dominated team I can't see
Maumalo being much more than a guy who gets us an extra 10-15m up field.
I prefer my wingers to be strike players who can create try scoring opportunities from anywhere on the park and to my knowledge
Maumalo's only done this once ( v Bulldogs last year). Not frequently enough for me.
