Problem is, we're all so desperate to witness new talent that it's difficult to convince ourselves we definitely don't want him there. It'd be a really odd decision to bring him in at this stage of the season and in this fixture, but hey....that's never stopped him before.

Isn’t it more likely that as the U20s are the curtainraiser, (where Hingano was named, the nsw cup team is back in Auckland) and they are just letting the young fella get some more practice in the top team IN CASE Johnson or TL fall over on the day?
You’d really struggle to see what a specialist half can provide off the bench – that’s pretty nuts even by cappy’s standards.
If he really wanted a back to cover for Kata you would have seen Big Jonno Wright named as 18th man.

His team selections just wear the boys down, yes Lolo had a terrible game last week but Ayshford has been just as poor I can't see how he justified getting a start, note to NQ run traffic his way and watch his nuts drop. Lillyman gets a start over Mutts, based on what? just another nail in Mutts Coffin, maybe another back on the bench? Crappy is clueless oh BTW don't expect heroics from captain lametastic, he'll be holding onto that ball with no thought of 2nd phase play and when the boys are down he'll be SHOUTING down to everyone and guess what HOFF no one is listening to you! why? you lost any respect you had whilst undermining everyone else. Yeah that is more likely. I was just reporting what Tom Sangster was saying in the late mail, and trying to make sense of it if indeed he did come into the 17. And in reality I wouldn't be surprised to see him play, it'd be an odd selection...but it still wouldn't surprise me given the selections to date this year.

No prop Prefers to start of the bench, he was misquoted all those years ago when that rumour started and he corrected it the same year, so it is wrong to say that Mutts prefers to start from the bench, in all his years in Wellington I can confirm that he NEVER preferred to start from the bench so lets end that assumption right now thanks.
We have become a dumping ground for overrated Aussie players think Mateo, Neilsen, Hoffman the list goes on, I have no problem with up untried and VALUE buys but not top dollar for the crap we have got, you can go all the way back to Platt and Betts (albeit from the UK) and see we have become marks for the NRL, and yet our talent becomes the buy of the season blah blah blah and I am fucken sick of it, Hoffman at top price do you think he is worth it??? be honest! I don't have a problem with Aussie players I loved Campion, I get that Aussies don't want to come to the Warriors but we don't have to buy for the sake of it, surely Thomson at less than HALF the price of Hoff was the better buy? Hoff gets more than Mannering wtf????!!! sorry but I am over it, we develop Maloney and he fucks off (Cronulla no hope of winning the title BTW) we get a sub standard Aussie coach why fucken bother, fuck bro I am tired of going over the same shit every week when our starting prop runs for all of 67 metres then of course he deserves a fucken spray when was the last time he Lillyman ran for 100 metres? he just happens to be an Aussie. You make a couple of valid points in there but that thing about Bodene value vs Hoffman value - you can't really say that as we didn't know Bodene would come into really good form at the time of the signing & we all assumed Hoffman would be a good acquisition (not saying he isn't, but he certainly isn't up there with the best anymore)
Ligi Sao - injured, I believe. I also don't rate him tbh. Didn't make any form of statement early on.

I understand your frustration, but surely it's more complicated. We know we pay overs for Aussie talent, but we also know it's likely to be next to impossible to be consistently competitive and/or win the premiership with 25 Kiwi players, given our league pathways and development systems are rubbish when compared with NSW and QLD. So we're not buying based on running meters and tackles, we're paying for their experience, leadership, knowledge, reliability etc. And in theory it's offset by us being able to keep local players here for smaller amounts than we otherwise might pay if thy were imported.
In the specific case of Hoffman, from the club's perspective they were buying some much needed experience and leadership, in a proven NRL performer. Is he overpaid? Sure. Is he overpaid in the context of our club, with no backrowers coming through our junior grades and guys like Sione Lousi on 400k or whatever it is, then probably not. Bodene Thompson is a buy that has worked out well for us, but that's something that has become apparent in hindsight. Would the Titans or Tigers have let him go so easily if they'd known he could turn out these sort of performances? Likely not. I'd argue a guy like Ligi Sao came here with bigger wraps and fan-fare than Bodene, but has been an injury prone, unfit non-entity. But again these players are signed and valued prospectively, not a couple of years into their time here.
So it's a flawed approach to look at a player as they are performing now and get annoyed at the contract they signed 1, 2 or 3 years ago. That's called hindsight bias.
Personally I think one of the worst decisions the club has made in the last decade was to sign Manu until the end of 2018, when his best was clearly well behind him. And that was largely apparent even at the time, not a judgement made after the fact once he began to look like an oil tanker.
As for Aussie players like Maloney who make a name here then leave, not sure how we're supposed to combat that.
And someone like Blake Ayshford isn't on a lot of money, and was signed as depth. I'm not sure what you mean by 'what is he going to add'...he's going to play centre, and he's our next best option in that position based on what's available. Guys like him aren't really the problem at this club. As for Lane, Sao, Ali...they're all injured or playing fairly average football in reserve grade, they're not banging the door down and being kept out due to favouritism of the current mob. Lane specifically fits your criteria of a possible value buy, but has also basically said he'll be on the first plane back to Aus if he can get a contract there, which then puts him in the Maloney 'Aussie defector' category. So the entire process is fluid, both performance and perceived value for money, combined with a contract signed at a different time. We're not the only club who deals with this, there are plenty of players at most clubs on big dollars who aren't performing as expected, hence why player turnover is so high.
I'm not sure I'm getting this Hingano selection at all TBH, Cappy said earlier in the week he's gone for a bigger bench and more muscle so I assume 3 forwards on the bench still stands. If Kata fails his fitness test then bring in Wright or Allwood, even with a reshuffle how would Hinagno's inclusion help fill the center position is Roache expected to play there? does Tommy then jump out to fill the hooking role while Jazz has a breather and Hingano plays five eight?
