General National Hockey League (NHL) Season 2013

I'm an Ice Hockey fan been one since I was 12. Follow the NHL, AHL (American Hockey League) and yes Australia has an ice hockey league. Shock horror, they follow something else apparently aside from their weird aerial ping-pong they call AFL? LOL. I only recently knew about the NZIHL myself. I work with one of the Melbourne based ice hockey clubs as part of the AIHL Season's over for us but the US league is well underway.
Anyway NHL season started last Tuesday.

My main team, the one I've followed for years is Detroit Red Wings, 2nd is Pittsburgh Penguins, 3rd Chicago Blackhawks (current Stanley Cup Champions), 4th New Jersey Devils.

I'm going to use this thread to post, games each day, results from that day (I may forget from time to time), post interesting articles..might be pictures too.

So if you don't want spoilers to the games if you can watch it live I recommend not coming here on the day of games.

Last year I came across a youtube clip of Tie Domi talking about a fight and didnt know anything about him or ice hockey at the time
I started reading about the different enforcers and what they do and what they go through, really interesting.
I watched a doco on the 70s flyers, they were hard as nails and fought their way to championship. The Bruins were their main opponents and were all talent.
So now I watch the highlights occasionally, it was a bruins final last year wasnt it and they lost didnt they despite having the toughest enforcers in the game today chara and lucic
Im probably a bruins fan atm because ive watched so many of shawn thorntons fights and most of the older scrappers are reitired now

loved tie domi, finished on a bad note but that guy had personality

Yes Bruins v Blackhawks wast last year's Stanley Cup Final. Either side could have won. Tough battle but Hawks were just brilliant the entire season they were faultless pretty much.
