don't think wakefield realise what they've got themselves into, they betta get used to playing with only 12 players on the field at a time, while montz hangs out in his sin bin.

i stand by my statement, and always got the firepower to back it up on this topic. I know I'm standing on toes because many of you are Monty fans, but as far as statistics go, he was somewhat of a thorn in the side. We had a higher success rate with Betham off the field between 2001 and 2005, including 2 matches in 2003 where we actually came back to win, scoring a double and a hat-trick, while he was spending time in the sin bin. you can't tell me, one of the highest penalty conceeding players in NZRL history, is a benefit to any team. his passion, enthusiism and leadership was second to none in the team. but sometimes it lost us more than it won.

We will see the negative impact of Monty's departure at least in the early stage of this season.
(though many Monty slangers will attribute the shortcomings to the loss of Stacey). His inspirational presence will not easily be replaced.

Certainly, Wakefield have not taken long to appreciate his qualities; a pity many of the Warrior fans did not do likewise.

Refs hated him aswell, that was half our promblem. Now that we have price they pretty much tie his shoe laces for him if they come undone. Thats a captain we need and now have.

Heart and Passion dont allways win, you have to have a cool head. Monty doesnt but he does have a good right lol

Who was the captain last year?
Monty had so much passion it rubbed off on the other guys.
I knew whenever he took the field late in a game that he would settle the guys down and bring them home. He not only had brawn but he had the nous and never say die attitude vital for the game of rugby league.

nah, good on him, always one of my favourite
personalities in the team, he used to piss me off a lot tho! lol, you're right on what he brought to the team kav, although i don't think he knew when to turn it on or turn it down, he used to do some silly things, i recall being at the warriors broncos game at suncorp and he was gettin all flustered and so he blatently tried to take civenoceva's head off with a forearm. cost him half the season recovering from surgery da silly guy. enough about tha past anyway, good luck to him and the wildcats, got a good coach and my man solomona!

I certainly hope Monty goes well. I think he had a tremendous work ethic and was always willing to put in the hard yards.

I had room in my team for him but not as captain though. I think he has tremendous leadership qualities and that the players respected him and that he could lead by example without being named captain.

The problem I had with him as captain was that the refs really didn't seem to like him. I think we have to accept that at the end of the day if a ref is faced with a 50/50 decision and they don't like one of the players the decision is more likely to go against that player and his team.

Hopefully he gets a fair crack of the whip in the UK and makes a difference for Wakefield.
