General Momentum in the tackle - Interpretations

Hey gang,

Just watching the roosters storm game and noticed the storm driving back the roosters fullback into the in goal and then getting penalised as the ref had called held during the tackle.

The storm had all the momentum in the tackle, reminiscent of our gang tackle against the togers, however the storm got penalised for it.

Now if you can't get your forwards back in time to support your backs hitting up the ball, I don't think you should get penalised for it. I don't know if that's simplistic thinking but just my two cents....

Remember against the Tigers Misi picked up the player and drove him back over the line with a bunch of other Warriors players?

That was officially a penalty, but the rule is interpreted differently between refs.

As soon as a player leaves the ground it is held apparently.

I didn't know this, only learnt after the Tigers game when Sheens (I think) was going on about it.

Really? I didn't know about that...

Seriously though, I think every team in the NRL does it, be it the in goal or the sidelines. I guess it's in the interests of the defending player which makes sense.

With this tackle on Soward tho, he was upright in the tackle and was being driven backwards, do you happen to know about the rulings on that at all?
