General MKV advice

Question for the tech heads among us/you. I have a 8gig USB stick drive i'm trying to drag and drop a 4.5gig MKV file onto but i keep getting the message that there is not enough room on the stick drive for the MKV file. There is nothing on the stick drive so there should be ample room for the video file.
Any advice?

Sounds like your flash drive may have gone bung, have you tried re-formatting it ?

1. check how much space is actually free on the USB drive. goto drive properties once inserted into usb port. 8gig usb stick does not always mean that there is 8 gig free space left on there.
2. as krs said format it again if you can and try again
3. there are a lot of fake usb sticks esp on ebay...not fake in the sense that they dont work, but fake in the way they show their available size.

Got me stumped. I can put any other sort of file on it just fine. Tried a reformat and still no luck. Perhapes i'll have to buy a bigger drive and try again. Thanks for the help guys.

format it to NTFS. If it is formatted to FAT32, there is a 4gb limit on the drive itself.

Hmm 4.5gb is a pretty big size for an MKV... or is it multiple files?...... Just curious
