General Misi's 'No Try'

Ok, I'm not disputing the fact that Misi's try was disallowed here, but did anyone else wonder why the hell the Video Ref called a 20m restart for the Dragons. It looked for all money, especially on the replay that Greenshields(?) knocked the ball out of Misi's hands forcing it dead.
Shouldn't that have been a goal line dropout?

Maybe I'm missing something.

The calls certainly went against us in the second half, but despite that our boys had plenty of chances that they simply blew against a Dragons B team.

Misi didn't execute the play well, neither did rovelli really, the kick should of been deeper and I thought that Misitalapa should of caught that ball with his body rather than his hands. after that all he had to do was fall over

Absolutely agree with you, MarkW. That ball was hit out by the defender. It was clear on the video, (along with mannering's try which, I was surprised, came down to benefit of the doubt), and how else would the ball have suddenly flown forward at such a great velocity considering the movement of Misi's hands?

A crying shame.

Yeah, the ball was definitely propelled by the defender's hands. But I thought Misi was over-cautious in picking up the ball, he could have grabbed it one bounce earlier. Course, it's easier to look at this incident in hindsight...

I think the video judge ruled that Misi's third arm came in contact with the ball and knocked it loose and thus a knock on.

You think that was a bad decision? What about Greenshield's try when he aprently 'tip toed down the sideline? Maybe his heel didn't actually touch the chalk but I really doubt his foot was in the air when he ran down there. **humph**

I didn't have too many concerns with it. Lack of ball security really.

Coincidentally, it was Tony Martin I think who put the kick through - not Rovelli.

The ball was dislodged in the tackle pretty clear cut really. The majority of the time when the ball is dislodged it's because of the heavy contact between the ball carrying arm and the shoulder/hands/arms or whatever of the tackler.

Yeah it wasn't Rovelli, must've been Martin although at the time i thought it was Wairangi? I don't think we had a case at all, it was poor ball security.
Apparently the video ref didn't think the player, Brett Morris, was playing at the ball, instead he ruled it was an attempted tackle in which case it was off Taulapapa. I'm 110% Certain he eyed the ball and punched it (in which none of us can deny was a great play! takes a lot of quick thinkin to do that)
I think this is definitely a grey area in the rules though, for instance, if we charge down a kick with our hands it's not a knock on if WE get it back, although it is if THEY get it back or it goes over the sidelines. Too many Grey areas these days, the sport itself is hard enough for our elite players to keep up with let alone thinking of the laws and by-laws of what they're doing.

I taped the game and played it on slow motion greenshields left foot touched the side line FOR SURE therefore leaving it at 16-12 a lot better than 20. Where was price he should have ran to the ref straight away, STRAIGHT AWAY.
Misi's is excusable.

What the F ?

How can people complain about the kick.....if he controlled the ball, it was a try.

Nothing wrong with the kick, just good play by the Dragon Fullback.

I wasn't complaining about the kick at all, Swanley. It was the decision to award a 20m start to the Dragons instead of a goal-line dropout that I'm talking about.

Yeah I thought so too! I don't have the sharpest eye around and I can understand sometimes these things happen fast so you can't make a decision straight away. But surely they should/could have looked at that! Grr.
As for Misi's. Well I still think the Dragons player had a finger to help nudge the ball off Misi's hands but I guess it could have gone either way.
