Will be an excellent player next season! apparently he has turned down the chance to play for the Kiwis because his a Samoan at birth.

He'll rip up super league next season imo.

He was a star in the 2003 RU world cup before switching codes to join St Helens, in his first season with us he was strugling in our under 21's side. However last season Daniel Anderson gave him his chance and he hasent looked back, great off load, fast, strong, power, he has it all for a prop forward.

Our squad is looking strong with many internationals.

Come on you Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good team but I'm still waiting for those wheels to fall off Lowey.

Maurie is BIG and quite strong- went to school with him at St Pauls College (#1 Rugby league school in Auckland and NZ), he began there as a Rugby union player from Samoa's St Joesph's College and has continued through with the league scene despite playing for Samoa Rugby and the Samoan Sevens team- definitely has huge potential but with the amount of strong props in the NRL and NZ Bluey would always have an open mind to what is outside the square and if Maurie is destined to play for the Kiwis I'm sure he'd prefer the Samoan jersey more!

I hope he plays for Samoa in the 2008 World Cup, he is killing it in the Super League.

Shame he couldnt play in the Samoan v Tonga match last year.
