West Tigers star Benji Marshall today decided to postpone shoulder surgery until the end of the season with a view to making his NRL return in four to six weeks.
Marshall and club doctor Donald Kuah met with a shoulder specialist yesterday to review the results of the five-eighth's MRI scan.
In a boost to the Tigers' premiership defence it was revealed his off-season shoulder reconstruction remained intact and he will undertake a rehabilitation program which could see him return as early as round 11.
Marshall will undergo regular testing and consultation with Kuah and Wests Tigers training staff.
"We will leave the decision in the hands of the specialists. We won't take any chances with Benji," said Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens.
Marshall said he was now focused on the month ahead.
"I just want to concentrate on my rehab and work hard in the gymnasium to strengthen the shoulder so I can get back as quickly as I can," Marshall said.
Sounds to me like we're going to have similar dramas to what we had last year with clubs ruling their players out of contention.
