General Marshall faces more should surgery

Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall will consult coach Tim Sheens on Thursday before deciding whether to delay shoulder surgery until the NRL off-season.

Marshall dislocated his shoulder against North Queensland on Friday night, just five games after having it repaired with reconstructive surgery over the summer.

The gifted playmaker, who has now suffered five shoulder dislocations in his two year career, says Sheens' input will play a part in his decision.

Marshall is contemplating more shoulder surgery to save his league career, either in the next few weeks or at the end of the current season.

Poor Benji. You've really got to feel for him. Personally Id rather see him have it now, so he'll be good for the tri-series, but that's pretty selfish of me! Whatever he decides, I wish him a quick recovery. God knows he deserves it.

Just saw Benji on the footy sahow said he has injured a differnt part of his shoulder and the recronstruction is still intact. Should be back on the field in 4-6 weeks. Also said if he reinjures it he cant do any more damage and at this stage he may not need more surgey at the end of the season.

Matty johns also rolled out the obligatory sheep joke for him.

oh that is interestng as I read an artilce on the tvnz site that he would defintely be having surgery at the end of the nrl season. it also said that the injury would not get any worse by him playing with it.

yeh he wants it to heal with rehibilitation not surgery but if he does need surgery he will have it towards the end of the season. cant play as he has to avoid further damage.
