General Maori TV and Bartercard Cup

Just watching a replay of the Canterbury Bulls v Waicoa Bay Stallions.

I have to say i'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Maori broadcast. It's of a professional standard. Dale Husband is still very good and Ritchie Barnett, former Kiwi captain is a promissing comments man.

The stanard of the football on display is of a good stanard also. Certainly of a stanard deserving of a bigger crowd.

Yeah. I happend to be surfing the channels last week and saw the game Counties Manakau Jets vz Waitakere Rangers on Maori TV. Very good coverage and comments. I think Kempy was a comments man. Sat under an umbrella with..??

I like the way they super-impose the score on the field.

Can't remember his name ..was it Sheperd ..from Waitakere..was very good. He is in the Warriors development squad whatever it is.
Was their goal kicker.

Yes good to see the local game on TV without it being a curtain raiser for something else.

I would rather have the Maori television commentary crew calling games than Jason Costigan & Darryl Halligan etc

:frog: unfortunately we don't have that luxury here in Aust coz whenever I've watched a league match (aside from channel 9) the Fox Sports dudes get a bit annoying.

Will Maori TV be broadcasting live on Monday night again or it another day/night this year? The NRL have Monday Night Footy this year therefore the BC Cup may act as a curtain raiser to NRL.

Maori TV are not showing the monday night games live this year. In fact there are no monday night games since they were only played then for the tellie so if they aren't showing them on TV then there is no point having them as nobody was going to watch live. I think they are showing one game from the weekend live (sunday afternoon from memory) and they will record one other game and replay it during the week.

It should be a better standard because most monday night games were played in the rain which of course means slippery ball, slippery ground, colder conditions.

That should work well because rugby tends to have all its games at night time and nothing on a sunday (in the Super 14) and the NRL sunday games kickoff at a later time than here unless the Warriors have a 2:30 kickoff on a sunday which might mean a slightly different kickoff time for the Bartercard Cup.
