Interesting thought here, players turn out for different countries in the games dont they, or was that fixed with the advent of 7's ? i thought commonwealth eligiblity was different to existing RL eligibility rules.

oh and post note - all empires are based on theft and murder - including USA (look at Hawii), Russian, French, Spanish, Dutch, Myan, .....

its really getting into a side note - but the USA independance day, Russia Unity day, French bastille day, the christians stole the roman holidays, the romans stole the pagan holidays after conquering them and celebrate all the time in the coluseum etc etc etc every country/empire celebrates its successes and ignores its loses. Look at NZ and waitangi Day, Australia and Australia day these are all commemorations of doing someone else out of land they held and taking charge. the normal process for this is theft and murder. No empire was ever built any differently check with the indians both types - and even look at when the indians had their own empires, they might have been smaller but they were no less vicious. And yes they did celebrate great battles and huge victories

so not having the party every year is the problem? I think the commonwealth games are a great thing, often used to blood young athletes at a major event before going to the worlds or the olympics. Now i know that NRL will never be in the worlds or the olympics but anything that builds its profile outside of England, NZ and australia is a good thing.

Pretty much every society you want to name that wasn't wiped out has undertaken some form kingdom building at the expense of others in their history.
History aside league getting into the Commonwealth games would be very very good for our game.
