In one of the other threads, I see there's some comment about Lance and his abilities as a #14/bench utility player.

Not being able to find a thread on him, I thought I'd start one where people can relate there stories about The Hobbit.

Oh, and please don't turn this thread into another debate of Lance as a fullback. That's been debated over the years enough times!!!!

Anyway, a few years ago I managed to talk to Russell Parker in one of his more friendlier moods (some of the times I tried, it never went well!!!). But, for once he seemed like he actually wanted to talk.

So I asked Rusty if there was anyone in the club he wouldn't want to have a fight with, and he said it was Lance. When I'd finished laughing, I said why and Rusty said, "Because that little prick wouldn't fight fair!!".

Coming from someone who would latter end up in jail the way he did, it's now quite ironic!!!

And, one more story about Lance. My wife and I were at a game at Mt Smart when Lance came on of the bench. He launched himself into a tackle from the opposite side of where the attacker was looking and nearly cut a much bigger player in two. My good lady jumps to her feet and screams "You've been hobbitted"!!!

A memory that sticks in my head was a test match in Brisbane- I was sitting front row straight behind the posts. Hohaia was playing fullback and Australia put a bomb up that came down with snow on it a meter short of the line- their chasers had all the time in the world and thaiday, inglis and a couple others were screaming down on him- it was a scary sight even from the stands but he stood his ground, diffused the bomb, got absolutely smashed and jumped straight back to his feet like nothing had happened.
My respect for him went up a couple of notches that day.
He was a courageous little bugger.

Back in the Steve Price era the Warriors flew into Melbourne to play the Storm, I was at the airport getting a few signatures, Lance was at the back chilling himself with headphones on.
Bro was humble and nice to talk to, personalised my Warriors jumper with a happy birthday signature.
Brother has my respect.

Anyone know what he does now since his England days?

Always remember Lance turning that world cup final with his drifting try out of nothing.

Had his detractors , but always did a good job for us no matter where he played.

Young Lawton has the same versatility as our man.

One of my all time favourites was Lance.

My earliest memory of him was a scrum move with Stacey in TOWNSVILLE leading to a try - may have even been his debut, not sure.

Was one of his earliest touches from memory.

Loved him from start to finish.

Nothing guts me more than him not getting a fair go in the 6 jersey, people say he did, but he didn't. I honestly think he would have been a star had he not had the warriors shuffle like we always do to players.......
He played for the kiwis
He played for us
Nothing but love from warriors fans
Our greatest super sub to date He is a star for mine
