Coach rating 6.5 out of 10. Will improve and experience will show through this coming year. Had a mixed start, and has a cautious approch to team tactics - his words on the Deaker show. Doesn't like surprises.

Biggest worry: Lack of ball playing forwards. No pizzaz in the backline. A " lets keep in the contest" philosophy

Finish 2007: I have always said 2008 is the year and because of some concerns I have with the coaching, I predict we will finish 6th. Hopefully by 2008 the basics will be right and players will be given a little more freedom to exercise options. The X factor as Lowie and Ridgey say.

I agree, hes been a pretty solid player really, didn't do much wrong, but I think he would get my 'Most Overrated Player' award for season 2006, bearing in mind the above comments.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ah Van, don't worry about that.

yeah at this early stage hes solid but thats about it Would have to say most wingers these days need to be built like a forward & fast eg tame tupo,grothe etc i think in the future fullbacks a better position for him really safe hands

And from what I've read on this site, a fair few people seem to rate "Patty" in the same manner.

Set out the context in which I made that comment.

You made the comment that Ah Van is a star.

Therefore, I said he was overrated.

Get this in your head, Ah Van is NOT a star. He is NOT a difference maker, he does plenty of things right, and not many things wrong, but he isn;t a star by any stretch of the imagination.

If you and other people think he is a star, then IMO he is overrated.

I think Paddy is a good player and has made a good fist of things this year; not quite the star status yet and could be a while for him but for mind he's a good player and has potencial in him. But perhaps talking him up at this year stage...well we'll have to wait and see.

I said he was a star in our team(the warriors) not the whole friggin world. I mean the guy has come along way and hasnt put a foot wrong this year, and IMO thats what makes him a star. You guys are entitled to what you think and thats fine but what i am defending is people saying ah van is overated cos i think thats stupid talk.

Im afraid you are missing the point.

I said he was overrated in light of your comments that he is a star (in the Warriors). But then again I don't know what your definition of star is, do you consider Jerome Ropati a star?

I didn't say Ah Van was crap, or that he hasn't come a long way, I essentially was saying he is overrated by punters like yourself.

Its really not a big deal, I like Ah Van - hes young and he is only going to get better.

IMO ropati isnt a bad player...i would probably understand y ppl r always sayin hes a crap 5\8 if he always dropped the ball and couldnt tackle, or mayb even if he hadnt scored a try this yr but he isnt like that and wen i watch him play i cant c wat ppl r complaining about.....i emphasise IMO coz ino that no one has the same opinion as me........this is where i turn to warriorfaithful* to bak me up, or take over unless u hate ropo aswell

Nah i share the same opinion as you *~*Fa'AhVaN*~* . I think ropati is a good player, maybe 5/8th isnt his position, but i dont think he did to much wrong there this year.

A STAR in a team is a game breaker, someone who can only be on the filed for 10 minutes and lift the team or break open the game. Somone that the crowd will pay to watch.

At this time in his career Ah Van is a solid player with the ability and skill to be a star in the future.

I would consider Wiki and Price, (Now Guts and Webb have left) as our only 2 true star players at the mo.

Next year "could" be different. I hope so.
