Yes Fraser! He was the third person I was thinking of. He's been going great,

We're really spoilt for choice in the Second Row these days aren't we?

Thats a good squad but i'm pretty certain both Matai and Sa are unavailable coz they need operations as soon as season ends

There are a lot of names there that are not regular 1st graders or up to top international standard i.e. - Harrison, Paea, Hauraki etc. There are probably about 3 players that I would class as world class - Webb, Inu?,Cayless? Manu?Luke? Even that is stretching it.

Question - Right now how many of the Kiwis would get into the Aaussie top 25??

Karmichael Hunt, Michael Jennings, Jonathon Thurston, Willie Mason, Carl Webb. ;)
Sorry, just dreaming. Realistically, probably none. Mannering would probably rank the highest. Maybe Manu. Mind you, it's always been that way.

Personally I rate Luke Covell better than Shaun Kenny Dowell and Chase Stanley.
Both those players made the squad presumably for wing, although Stanley has played centre and 2nd row.

Point of my post, Luke Covell should of made the 40 man squad!

i agree he is good under the high ball and dependable.

SKD has a poor set of hands which is the only thing standing between him and being rated the best winger in the game behind only Garreth Rainor in my humble opinion.

That?s with no- BMW, Asotasi, Pritchard, Matai, Sa

I think Webb is done. We?re looking at him as a bit of a saviour but he was extremely unimpressive the last time he played for us. The drop in intensity is evident there and hoping that he comes back and produces big, might be too much to hope for. Hohaia has been great at 1 for our club and Perrett can make metres like no one else on kick returns. There involvement rate is also high from the back. I also have nothing against Nightingale who is a fine (if undersized) winger but I?d rather go with Manu and SKD. I didn?t see the need for another specialist winger in the squad when I get the versatility of Ropati and Perrett. Elsewhere, I?ve taken the liberty of selecting out of favour guys like Fien (a calming influence allowing Benji to play his natural game) and Moi Moi (adds some vigor off the bench)

Interesting team mate. Especially your 1,7 and 9.

Now you said your thoughts on why Hohaia is at fullback, and Fien at halfback. What's the story behind Issac Luke on the bench? There's no doubt in my mind he is the best hooker N.Z has....do you think the same? Or are you looking for some impact coming of the bench. i.e injecting him when the opposition fowards are tired? What's the story? :)

Yeah mate, definitely tactical. Hold him out for a bit and then inject him in. It?s the same story with Jeff Lima there. I think that the combination of Cayless and Blair starting would work better than Lima starting and Blair coming off the bench. I see Eastwood and Moi Moi as impact players off the bench. I?d probably be hesitant to start them especially Moi Moi even if there are one or two injuries to the starting props. I?m trying to take all positions into account including the bench. It could be the difference.

Yea, I like what your doing with the whole impact of the bench thing! :)

I mean the Rabbitohs brought Issac of the bench last week, and as soon as he came on, the Rabbitohs looked much better. Maybe it could work, if we don't let teams get to far ahead like the Rabbitohs let the Roosters last week.

Although, I think Issac could easily play the full 80. But then as you say, it's all about the impact thing. You can't really keep the intensity for the full 80, and especially in the hooker position, where you want a fairly fresh pair of legs running around, to try and capitialize on tired markers!

Personally I would go the more traditional way. Start Issac, play him until about the 60 minute mark. Give him a 5-10 minute break, and then let him loose in the final 10-15!

Nobody has mentioned Sam Tagatese from the Storm, is he injured or doesn't anyone here rate him as good enough?

for the Kiwis? He's a good prospect for the future, but he's struggling to make 1st grade let alone international. He's only managed 6 games this year, all off the bench, his last game was back in Round 13.

He is probably one of the most promising Kiwi players but I think he needs to become a 1st grade regular before he gets mentioned as an International. He's also been named in the Samoan side.
