Hoping the Nrl knocks back a request to make players available for this test match fixture against England during Origin in Denver, Colorado.

We could have up to 8 players from the Warriors making the long trip then having to back up against the Sharks on Friday night.

It's 12,000 kms from Auckland to Denver twice the distance from Auckland to Perth. This a week after we play a game against the Cows in Townsville.
Typical. again we get given the shit deal.

I have a feeling that this game won't go ahead.

The Kiwis are already playing England in a 3 game series later in the year haha.

I was hoping that might save us.

I'm not against the Kiwis playing this game just not at this time.
Especially when we don't even know who the coach is going to be. Would rather they have time to prepare for a series under these circumstances. Maybe stage a game in the US at the end of 2019.

Might have something to do with a pay cheque every month. I could be that simple.

Doesn't matter, Warriors season will be over by then anyway.

A long time ago a mate and myself in chch were driving passed the old Nancys hotel in Riccarton which had recently taken on an upgrade (serious downgrade), I was blown away by how some idiot had turned a classic pub into such an eyesore. I commented on what a disaster had taken place, my mate agreed and added, that what blew him away even more is that one muppet presented it and bigger muppet authorising it agreed to the design.
Same as the Kiwis, how the f#$k did someone sign off of David Kidwell to be our national coach. DK should have been sacked already, and the hierachy that rubber stamped should also be gone as well.

By the by, Nancys, the Carlton, the Cally, the Russley were stand out pubs which are gone nowadays?? Miss the jug, pool table, cops invading on masse, jukebox, meat tray, Warriors winning with exciting footy. better times...

An annual NZ Tonga grudge match would be awesome in NZ.

But we lose the ANZAC test every year, maybe they just don't want another scheduled annual loss.

That whole article sums up international rugby league.

The Australians who scrapped the ANZAC test organise a game for Tonga vs Samoa but it doesn't look like they actually told or asked Tonga. Why would they the rugby league world is for Australia to schedule.

The Tongans seem to be getting mixed signals from the NZRL about playing the Kiwis and doing the obvious thing which is to capitalise on the Tongans world cup popularity and organise a rematch which should be a sell out or close to it in Auckland.

The NZRL are off organising a game against Fiji which also looks to be a shambles in terms of who knows what's going on.

Welcome to the rugby league version of capitalising on the world cup. The old saying couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery comes to mind, but the guys that can't organise a piss up in a brewery would be more organised than this lot.

The best way to fix this mid-year mess for 2018 is :

Fiji to take Tonga's place and will play Samoa in the Pacific Test
Tonga to play NZ in Auckland

England misses out but with NZ touring there later in the year and playing three matches, that is fair.

Bit of a catch 22 for the NZRL, they lost players to Tonga this year and I’m sure will be wanting to make a bit of a statement by not welcoming back those players.

One way to drive this home would be to starve the Tongan NZers of tier 1 games leaving them to only having the odd game against Samoa essentially.

Not saying it’s right but for selfish reasons why would NZ weaken itself and help Tonga get stronger?

If Tonga gets better, that means the Kiwis have more quality opposition.

More quality opposition means more games that mean something.

Games that mean something means money gets made and the game grows.

Would be really positive if the NZRL could organise games that make money without Australia being involved.

Absolutely but would you give up a chunk of your probable team and weaken your team (falling further behind Aus and England) to achieve that?

My problem with that is Tongan Rugby League does not exist, end of story.

I don't believe that the players who played for Tonga in the World Cup will ever represent another country again.

I also don't believe the Kiwis would want any of them back after what happened.
