General Just let him go Warriors

For the sake of New Zealand rugby league the warriors should allow Lance Hohaia a release to go play for another NRL club. He was supposed to be something special. Its apparent the structure is not inplace at the warriors for players to kick on.

I mean come ' on we want to be a top 8 team !! we want to win the dam comp !!

Lets re-sign Gattis and grab Witt.

by 2012 we may be a top 12 team

as sad as it is i have to agree with that. hohaia is still young at only 22. injuries and warriors coaching staff how screwed lance's progression. he was said to be the next best thing in 2002.

i say the warriors should grant him a release.

lance should then join an ESL club regain some confidence, cos god knows he has the talent. just needs some gametime at his favoured position halfback.
once he has done that he should comeback to the NRL and show the warriors what they missed out on.

\pessimistic to say that the warriors will be a top 12 team by 2012 strider.

hahahaah you are right Commonsense, I am being pessimistic!! but dam Compare a team like the Melbourne Storm to the Warriors. Compare the player bases and Juniors to choose from and you understand the Warriors are some what of a major disapointment.

Micheal Witt ?
George Gattis ?
Tony Martin ?
Todd Byrne ?

I dont get this club anymore

melbourne storm have the same problem with warriors with recruiting big name players. most players want to play in nsw or qld.

but the storm have recruited and developed some top youngsters... billy slater, cameron smith, greg inglis, jake webster, dallas johnson etc.

premier league and jersey flegg are light years ahead of batercard.
go figure how we're suposed to do that if we can't compete with their second graders

yeh that too.

anyway back to lance hohaia... melbourne storm is gonna have a vacancy in the halves with scott hill going to the ESL. thats a possibility for lance.

well i said vacancy in the halves didnt i?? and 5/8th is a position in the halves.

but i dont think its a good idea for hohaia to go straight into the nrl. redevelop himself in premier league or ESL first.

Too many exiled aussies getting their shot for the warriors - lets face it we'd still be 12th if we hadn't been deducted points...

BullSh*t, Talent is talent. Ive seen junior kiwis deal to Aussie Junior sides with NRL players, Such as Hunt, Benji etc etc

Its down to the player. Sonny Bill could of played NRL at 16 easy.

interesting you'd suggest that because you don't see him as a 5/8 no matter what

sorry i think u mistaken me for someone else. the most ive ever said was hohaia best position is halfback. never said he couldnt play 5/8th. in fact ive been saying that hohaia should replace ropati at 5/8th for the past few weeks. look at my past posts.

just on the melbourne halves thing. The storm coaching staff stated last week Greg Inglis will be their permanent replacement for Scott Hill in the number 6 jersey after they missed out on Joel Moon

i agree that Hohaia should be released to another NRL club. He has got some of the best skills in the Warriors but they are being wasted. I'd love to see him tearing it up in a #7 jersey for anyone except a superleague team. too many of our players go over there and your limited as to how often you get to see them play on tv

Inglis is a winger, right? Or Slater's backup fullback? One of those, lol...

Any word on who will take his newly vacated position?

they said that could be a short term option until Inglis becomes more seasoned in the NRL, however Inglis is their long term five-eigth they believe.

no, he's not a winger, he's a fullback/centre being groomed as a five eighth, if anything Billy Slater is Greg Inglis' back up. Greg Inglis in my honest opinion has got more skill than Sonny or Benji do you watch many storm games?

Primed for playmaking
Karl Dekroo

TEENAGE star Greg Inglis could be fast-tracked into a playmaking role for Storm next season if Melbourne fails to lure Joel Moon from the Broncos.

With veteran five-eighth Scott Hill switching to the English Super League and the promising Jackson Nicalau having signed with North Queensland, Storm does not have a recognised No. 6 on its roster for 2007.
Moon is viewed as the ideal replacement for Hill, but the Australian Schoolboys representative's future remained unclear last night.

He met Broncos coach Wayne Bennett yesterday as Brisbane made a last-ditch attempt to retain the youngster.

"We are quietly confident, but we do have a couple of other options," Storm recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan said.

"We have spoken to a player from another club, but we also have options from within."

bStorm coach Craig Bellamy sees Inglis's long-term future at five-eighth.

Ideally Storm would prefer Inglis, 19, to continue his development at centre or fullback, but O'Sullivan admitted the possibility of an earlier move had been discussed.

"It is one of the scenarios we have considered," O'Sullivan said.

"Matt Geyer has also shown in the past he can do the job at No. 6 so we have a few options."

Bellamy said with the benefit of another off-season Inglis could handle the switch to a decision-making role.

"He is obviously a very talented player and has all the attributes of a five-eighth," Bellamy said.

Inglis will return from a back injury against St George Illawarra in Sydney on Sunday.

"He'll definitely play, that's all that's certain at the moment," Bellamy said.

"We might look at a bench role but we also have (prop) Garret Crossman back so there are a few decisions to make."
