Yet anothe awesome win! Man there's some kids turning it on in this team after a bit of a slow start. How good is it to start Havili then send in Trent Bishop! There's a couple of definite first grade stars in there but the hard part is trying to keep the right ones. What a really tough job!

Yeah...I think the Warriors have it a little wrong in their approach though..
they are all about winning...winning should be nice, but development should the primary focus.

Likiliki on the wing was and is still a joke.
no he is playing Feao a secondrower.

As for Havili and Bishop ...very talented players ...but I doubt either of them have a future in the hooking role longterm.
too big, not hardworking enough on defense. Bishop could be another lewis brown though.

95% of their tries have been 3m bargeovers - what would they look like when forward pack meets some resistance.
Other than bargeovers they dont set much else up.

Broncos could of easily competed but they have sent many of their most promosing juniors to QLD cup teams.
Just like the warriors should of done to the likes of palavi, tuimavave and slaimankhel.

I love the clubs development focus ...however think they are doing themselves a diservice with the NYC team.
Partly due to Ackland love of big and fast polynesians. i.e picking likiliki on the wing.

Their a guys like Kouma Samson ... genuine footballers..carving up in Fox, way more heart, way more smarts and way more nrl potential.
He is young, but he is going to be better than palavi, lousi bros, bhana etc.
If i was him, I would negotiate a release now.

Couldn't agree more. Having Likiliki on the wing is a joke, and a bad one. He rampages his way to a few tries in the U20's, yay? He'll never play there in first grade. It's taking up a spot that an actual winger could be developing in, while he isn't playing in a possible future position of his own (in the forwards).

Exactly and there are heaps of actual wingers ...out there. im sure they have 50+ juniors signed up.
or Why dont they play Hukatai in his real position - of wing.

I agree - I dont hate on likiliki but its seriously affecting his development
He needs to improve his fitness, his workrate and try and replicate that workload to get ready for First grade.
Surely, that the goal is to get players ready for first grade and develop player who have an actual possiblity of progressing to first grade.

Im pretty sure there is enough talent in auckland alone...to do that quite easily and still be competitive (if not win the competition)

Unfortunately the commentators for 20s give far too much praise with out a bit of analysis or reality to the situation.
seriously do they want us to clap when havili barges overs from 2m out.

Unfortunately for likiliki ..he might become just like his brother, sam lousi, sebastine ikahihifo etc
Players who need some tweaking, development but they never received nothing at 20s level.
They were selected everyweek, never fixed up their errors etc.. alway rewarded without correcting errors

are we suprised they havent kicked on at NRL level.

Yeah they should always be aiming to be a success in the U20 competition, but not at the expense of the development of these guys. The overall goal should be the success of the first grade team, and these guys playing out of position, or simply relying on their size to be successful...well it just spells disaster once they're required to make the step up. Perhaps showcasing the U20's in NZ has gone too far, as they try to lure as many young players from either code to trial etc. Ben Henry plays for 3 years in the NYC in the backrow then debuts in the NRL as a centre. I'm sure Ackland/Iro didn't know that was the eventual plan, but surely there's got to be enough communication about future plans and where these juniors are likely to play in the coming seasons. The goal has to be "How can we make this junior a successful NRL player"...Likiliki on the wing is maaadness.

There's some great points above and I agree with most of them but one thing I'm not sure of is the rules of the 20s. I thought the club's had an oblication to play their best under 20 players in the NYC. Th comments are made above about Brisbane sending their best to Q Cup and there was a story in RL Week about Souths upsetting someone in NYC because their NSW Cup team had a bye and a lot of their players came back to NYC.

Is there a rule on this or is it just to hard to police? or did I get that wrong and there is no rule? While I'm on that subject, is Jordan Meads dropped for Mason Lino or is he simply being given a run in NSW. I would have loved to see Carlos and Omar play a fair ammount of NSW Cup and probably a lot of other players for that matter.
