If you look at the season as a whole you have to wonder if there is more to it. Arrested, charged in the off season

Started the season in Reserve Grade. Given chances via injury & suspension in the back row.

By the end of the season he was a bit part bench player. Underutilized in my eyes but that's what happened.

He is a good player but totally replaceable. Wish him luck at the Dogs
Was wondering the same thing if the off the field issues were part of the reason. - Webby has been pretty vocal about the Warriors being a family club.

I think Curran did a great job for us especially sticking through the Covid times but we were overstocked in the 2nd rowers department so much so it was a joke every time there was a rumor of a player coming available if they were a 2nd rower we'd be targeting them. With a lot of young talent coming through as well it feels like Curran was excess to requirements for the cap space he was taking up.

Heard Curran signed a 3 year deal. Really wish we had got him.
Being ditched could be the shock he needs but reportedly being released as didn't have right attitude, or suitably work on his defence, for Warriors.
Warriors being currently a better performing side than us (but not better on paper IMO), not sure their scraps do us any favours.

He has shown some good footy in the past though so certainly not surprised he was snatched up quickly.
Makes more sense for the dogs to try and grab anyone they can and hope for the best. Especially since they've apparently lost/losing Davey, Topine and RFM all through falling out with the coach.

He can play edge though and that is still an area of concern for me. Don't love our backups appear top be Colquhoun and Williams at this stage, pending step up from guys outside the 30

This is off the sharks forum too. Hard to know if there’s any truth to it or the one on the rabbits forum.

I would be pretty certain that attitude is a part of it.

That has come up before so we know he is susceptible to it

In all honesty you just don't let a guy walk a year early unless you want him gone

He's a player that improved during his time here. Unlike many in the past that have got worse. Sure we are hopefully heading into better times now but still its recruitment its hard to get a sure bet. Even if we end up as one of the top clubs under Webster there will be players that come here and don't go well for various reasons. All it can take is a relationship breakdown and their thoughts can be a bit distracted.

Curran did well here and improved. He stuck it out with the club during covid. Probably had to so he could get his car he left in the parking lot when they left in 2020.

It would have been good to have kept him for stability and in case Ford for example falls away a bit in terms of form next year. The club under McFadden and Webster would have a plan on who they want to promote or how they want to balance the squad in terms of positions.

Wish him well at the Bulldogs. They have been busy again in the market so may end up turning things around. The main thing for Curran is keeping his fitness up. The Bulldogs will need a half to put him into holes to get the best use out of him.

All the best to him', I'll enjoy watching him in 2024 still. He had a great attitude on the pitch, though I sometimes felt his concentration would wander at key moments, which he improved on immensely. I think Webby would have liked to have seen him being more clinical in some areas. It will be interesting to see how the recruits go, there will be some serious speed with Xerri and Addo-Carr. Josh's mobility might suit them. Or it could all go tits up. 50/50 with some of those guys and no real halfs still. Their forward pack is a little light-weight too.

It was good to see him and SJ enjoying each others successes this year after blowing up at each other a lot last year.

Enjoying reading all the rumours already around the place. Apparently knights are chasing JAC now as well as eels. Bulldogs have been eyeing any of the Saifiti brothers for a bit and want a trade, doesn’t sound like it’s likely. Eels offered Ryan Matterson trade for JAC but not likely apparently. 3 teams are looking at Matterson with him being shopped. I think he could be a handy player, big guy that could be a JFH edge forward turned middle. Plays lock anyway so already does but also filled in for eels at five eighth so has Tohu Harris type skills.

This is what happens when you are a successful club.

When was the last time we released a player, a good player and it has nothing to do with him wanting to leave, but for us to accomodate players coming through the system?

I'm struggling to remember anyone like this.

Will I miss Curren as a Warrior? Yes I will. Do I think the club has made the wrong decision, no I don't.

Do I have faith that the juniors coming through are good enough replacements? Yes I do.

Do I have faith in Webby and Cappy - bloody oath I do.

Curran won't be the last this happens to.....

Good luck to him and I hope he enjoyed his time at the club.

Actually sounds good in theory but I think Barnett and niukore are more suited to middle than matterson but then that would leave us basically in the same position as this year- Afb and some makeshifts.
Plus matterson is a dickhead.
Unless we’re getting a specialist prop, releasing Curran is pointless.

Well if the stories are true about Curran being slack off field this year, then he has to go anyway because of the culture they have built, good player or not.

His off field indiscretion and run in with the law would have also influenced the decision to let him go.

Bring on Demetric!!

Although they are committed on being a pathways club and bringing through some young ones. One more gun forward would be nice.

I think his attitude would be questioned .. he took a ban instead of paying a fine this year. Not the best example of team first.
